Nervous Americans are looking to Washington for leadership as the coronavirus spreads across America.
But the nation just got some very bad news on that front.
Now Ilhan Omar confirmed everyone’s worst coronavirus fears with this bombshell.
During the Great Recession of 2008 to 2009, Barack Obama’s then-chief of staff Rahm Emanuel famously said “never let a crisis go to waste.”
What that meant was that Democrats should take advantage of emergencies that frighten the public to grease their socialist and anti-American policies through Congress when elected officials are not willing to delay “must pass” legislation that provided needed relief to a nervous population.
Flash forward to the coronavirus pandemic and Democrats are itching to rerun the Emanuel playbook.
The Holy Grail of the socialist project in America is a 100 percent government takeover of healthcare.
Obamacare was the first step in this march toward imposing a communist-style healthcare system on America.
Led by Bernie Sanders, rank-and-file Democrat voters pushed the party to accept a government-run healthcare system as part of their presidential platform for 2020.
This Soviet-style proposal polls poorly with the broader public and Democrats essentially handed the nomination to “Sleepy Joe” Biden because he supports a halfway measure.
But now that the coronavirus pandemic rages across America, Democrats smell an opportunity to impose their pet project on America.
Socialist Congresswoman Ilhan Omar piped up on social media that the best way to slam the breaks on the coronavirus outbreak would be for the government to seize control of all private hospitals.
/Omar wrote.
This message confused millions of Americans.
Hospital capacity is hospital capacity.
The government can’t wave a magic wand and conjure up more beds and ICU units.
Omar threw this chum out in the water in the hopes that the next relief package includes language moving the nation toward a government-controlled healthcare system.
And Omar has good reason to believe that will be the case.
After the Senate passed the President’s two trillion-dollar economic relief legislation, Pelosi signaled to her restless caucus that the next round of negotiations would see more socialist priorities on the table for inclusion.
Omar’s demand for the federal government to confiscate private hospitals will likely be part of the Democrats’ opening bid in the next round of negotiations.
The next bill will likely center on bailing out state governments that saw their fiscal situation deteriorate because of big spending on welfare programs and government union pensions that are now unsustainable because of the drop in tax revenue resulting from coronavirus shutdowns.
Democrats will try to use that resulting emergency as the vehicle to advance their long-sought-after goal of a completely government-run healthcare system.
