Americans looked for answers after the tragedy at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
A hateful bigot murdered 11 innocents because they were Jewish.
Secretary of Defense James Mattis weighed in and he left jaws on the ground by using one word to describe the shooter.
James Mattis Blasts Shooter as a Coward
The hate-fueled bigot who murdered 11 worshippers at a synagogue in Pittsburgh was taken into custody.
Secretary Mattis was traveling to the Czech Republic when he met with reporters to discuss this act of evil
Mattis told the press that the killing was hard “on all of us who believe in freedom of religion as one of our most fundamental rights that our country was founded on.”
Then Matis really laid into the bigoted murderer.
“Mad Dog” ripped the anti-Semite as a “coward” and said he couldn’t even call him a man.
“This individual — I won’t even call him a man — he’s the poorest excuse for a man you could ever come up with. Who would use a weapon in a house of worship, on unarmed innocent people and even shoot four policemen, then surrender himself,” Mattis said. “This is a coward. He is not a man by any definition that we use in the Department of Defense.”
He then explained that the military always respected freedom of religion.
“The U.S. military — what I expect from our troops and what I see of them — is men and women working respectfully alongside each other, people who look at other people’s religion as a private matter to be respected,” Matis said. “The U.S. military, I believe, represents what it’s all about in America where you work together to solve things. But also in the U.S. military, our job is to protect this democracy. We’re devoted, focused like a laser beam, on that.”
Donald Trump Condemns Anti-Semitism
Donald Trump also condemned the anti-Semitism behind the shooting.
He tweeted:
All of America is in mourning over the mass murder of Jewish Americans at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. We pray for those who perished and their loved ones, and our hearts go out to the brave police officers who sustained serious injuries…
…This evil Anti-Semitic attack is an assault on humanity. It will take all of us working together to extract the poison of Anti-Semitism from our world. We must unite to conquer hate.
Trump and his administration have always condemned hatred and bigotry.
He has repeatedly said discrimination and targeting individuals because of their race, gender or religion has no place in American life.
The media is not telling the truth when they claim Trump tolerates or encourages racism and prejudice.
Critics contend the media want to push the story that Trump inspires these acts of hatred to depress Republican vote ahead of the midterm election.
They also note the press bent over backward not to blame Bernie Sanders and the Democrats for one of his supporters trying to assassinate Republican members of Congress.
