The Biden administration’s effort at damage control over the Afghanistan debacle imploded in a very public way.
Americans were left speechless.
Jen Psaki was stunned by one question that exposed this terrible Joe Biden failure.
The Biden administration claimed just 1,500 Americans remained in Afghanistan and none would be left stranded.
Those comments were hard to square with the fact that Jen Psaki admitted in a previous press briefing that the administration did not know how many Americans remained in Afghanistan when Psaki asked reporters to pass along any contact information for Americans they knew to still be in Afghanistan.
The Biden administration’s mendacity on the subject came into sharp focus when reports surfaced that 24 students from a California high school remained trapped in Afghanistan with no way to escape.
“Cajon Valley Union School district in El Cajon announced that 24 of its students will not start the school year on August 17 because their families cannot reach the military side of the Kabul airport,” Newsweek reported.
At a recent press briefing a reporter asked Psaki for an update on the abandoned school children.
“The LA Times has a story saying that a group of students and their parents are in Afghanistan. Do you have any more information on that or is that?–“ the reporter asked.
Amazingly, Psaki admitted she was clueless about students deserted behind enemy lines.
“I do not. Who have recently traveled into Afghanistan?” Psaki responded.
When pressed, Psaki again confirmed the administration falsely claimed the evacuation of all Americans that want to leave will successfully wrap by August 31 when Psaki asked for more information about the stranded students.
“I certainly don’t have additional information on that. I know, as our secretary of state just noted, when he went through a thorough summary of American citizens and our contacts and our focus over the last several days, he gave an update. I am happy to take their information if there is something more detailed to have.”
Congressman Darrell Issa represents the district where this school is located and Issa’s communications director Jonathan Wilcox called out Psaki for lying about Americans not being stranded in Afghanistan.
“Congressman Issa and staff are aware of the location of several American citizens in Afghanistan, and we have been in direct and consistent contact with them. They are scared, stranded and trapped in the Kabul area. So far, they’ve been unable to reach the airport. I know Jen Psaki has previously said this isn’t happening, but she’s dead wrong,” Wilcox stated.
Wilcox added that Psaki also lied about not knowing anything about the trapped students because Issa’s office reached out to the White House with contact information.
“Jen Psaki said in a previous briefing to contact the White House with names of stranded American citizens…so we did,” Wilcox added.
The botched Afghanistan withdrawal will go down as one of the most humiliating failures in American foreign policy history.
Americans are struggling to learn the depths of the debacle because the Biden administration refuses to tell the truth about the dire straits Americans on the ground in Afghanistan find themselves in.
