The left thought that Joe Biden was their best bet to defeat Donald Trump.
But a series of embarrassing defeats in the early nominating contests have Biden’s campaign on the ropes.
And things just went from bad to worse as Joe Biden got caught in a huge lie. Here’s how he destroyed his own campaign.
Former Vice President Joe Biden was the left’s top choice to take on President Donald Trump.
Biden was the Vice President under Barack Obama, the left’s favorite President. Under the Obama administration, they had free rein to shape the country into what they wanted it to be.
But much to their dismay, Biden has been failing at every turn.
Between being the center of a hoax impeachment trial against a sitting President, and the scandals surrounding himself and his family, Americans have no wish to see Biden back in the White House.
And now, the left was hit with another blow as Biden was just ousted for telling this major lie.
Several times over the last few weeks, Biden has been heard detailing his trip and subsequent arrest in South Africa.
He claimed that he was traveling to visit Nelson Mandela in prison, but was arrested multiple times by authorities.
But now, this has all been revealed to be a massive lie.
Daily Caller reports:
“This day, 30 years ago, Nelson Mandela walked out of prison and entered into discussions about apartheid,” Biden told supporters in South Carolina last week, according to the Times. “I had the great honor of meeting him. I had the great honor of being arrested with our U.N. ambassador on the streets of Soweto trying to get to see him on Robbens Island.”
But this story is easily documented as fake.
At the time Biden claims this story took place, he would have been a Democratic Senator. If a US senator had been detained on foreign soil, it would have been reported in the news.
Furthermore, Biden never mentioned the arrest in his memoir, which would have made for a memorable entry.
But to drive it home, the ambassador who Biden claimed to be arrested with has come forward and said that this event never occurred.
Andrew Young, who also served as a congressman from Georgia and mayor of Atlanta, was the U.S. ambassador to the U.N. from 1977-79. He told the Times that it would have been highly unlikely for South Africa to arrest a U.S. senator.
“No, I was never arrested and I don’t think he was, either,” Young told the Times, adding, “Now, people were being arrested in Washington. I don’t think there was ever a situation where congressmen were arrested in South Africa.”
Biden has been caught lying multiple times on the campaign trail already.
He has also been caught forgetting what state he was campaigning in, and was shown as confrontational to more than one campaign attendee.
This is not the man that Americans wish to see in the Oval Office.
