Democrats are not messing around.
With complete control of Washington, the left is pulling every level of power at their disposal.
Joe Biden picked a legal fight that will lead to this showdown with Clarence Thomas.
Many Democrats want the election rules and procedures that were in place for 2020 to become permanent.
Republican states around the country tried to reassert order by passing election integrity laws.
One such red state was Georgia.
Georgia passed a new election integrity law that required voter ID when Georgians requested and submitted an absentee ballot.
Democrats hit the roof.
Stacey Abrams and Joe Biden smeared the law with false claims about how it was Jim Crow 2.0.
Now the Biden administration announced the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Georgia.
“Where we believe the civil rights of Americans have been violated we will not hesitate to act,” Attorney General Merrick Garland declared.
Civil Rights Division leader Kristen Clarke accused the Georgia law of being racist.
“These legislative actions occurred at a time when the Black population in Georgia continues to steadily increase and after a historic election that saw record voter turnout across the state, particularly for absentee voting, which Black voters are now more likely to use than White voters,” Clarke told reporters. “Our complaint challenges several provisions of SB 202 on the grounds that they were adopted with the intent to deny or a bridge, Black citizens, equal access to the political process.”
Georgia Attorney General Christopher Carr slammed the administration’s lawsuit as a politically motivated stunt based on lies.
“The Justice Department is wrong: factually, legally and constitutionally. Georgia’s law clearly strengthens security, expands access and improves transparency in our elections. Merrick Garland said he was going to depoliticize the Justice Department yet files this blatantly political lawsuit,” Carr stated.
“It is disappointing for those of us who respect the rule of law, because this is not a lawsuit, it is a political campaign flier. Falsely using race to scare people of color into believing their vote will not be counted is irresponsible and fundamentally wrong,” Carr added.
Carr added his office won every previous legal challenge Democrats like Stacey Abrams filed and that the state of Georgia would win this case as well.
“Unfortunately for the Justice Department, the Stacey Says Standard does not hold up in a court of law. We have defeated Stacey Abrams in every legal challenge she’s filed since 2018. We remain confident that Georgia’s law will be upheld,” Carr stated.
Democrats just suffered a major defeat when Republicans filibustered what they called the “Corrupt Politicians Act.”
Republicans argued this bill would have rigged elections for the Democrats by limiting the ability of states to enforce voter ID laws as well as mandating universal mail-in voting and ballot harvesting.
This legislation was the number one wish list item for Democrat Party activists.
Republicans believe the administration’s lawsuit against Georgia is a political response to that setback in the Senate.
This case could eventually make its way to the Supreme Court.
Clarence Thomas and the Court’s other conservatives could take up this matter as a chance to settle a dispute about federal meddling in state election procedures.
