Something strange happened on the air at CNN.
No one had seen anything like it.
And Joe Biden was thrown off balance by this question from CNN.
For the last four years under network President Jeff Zucker’s direction, CNN abandoned all pretense of being a news network and instead served as the rapid response operation of the Democrat Party.
Even though Donald Trump left office, CNN continued to position itself as the megaphone to amplify the left’s desired political narrative.
But even when CNN tried to offer up a softball question to help the Democrats rebut GOP attacks it still backfired.
Republicans ripped Joe Biden’s 2.3 trillion-dollar social welfare spending bill as unnecessary because the economy added over 900,000 jobs in March and appeared ready to fire on all cylinders thanks to Donald Trump’s vaccines triggering an economic reopening.
Former Obama administration official and pretend news anchor Jim Sciutto offered Biden official Cecilia Rouse an opportunity for a puff piece interview to refute the GOP’s point about the economy taking off and making further big government spending unnecessary.
“So these numbers are good. They’re above forecast. I know that there’s still about an $8.4 million job deficit. But economists are forecasting continued growth, even a boom going into the summer. And I wonder, if the economy is set to boom, why the need to inject another $2 trillion in via this large infrastructure proposal?” Sciutto asked.
Rouse began by trying to take credit for the Trump administration’s vaccine and distribution plan.
“Well — well, thank you, Jim. Yes, these were encouraging numbers. It suggests that the speed with which we have accelerated the vaccination rollout and getting shots into arms and just the confident economic structure that the Biden administration has put in place has really provided the confidence that the economy needs to start to get going again. But we still have more work to do. So, yes, the American Rescue Plan was designed to help get us past this pandemic to insure that people could get to the other side safely,” Rouse began.
Rouse then tried to falsely claim the pre-Trump economy was inadequate and was racist despite the fact there was historical low unemployment for black and Hispanic Americans.
Rouse also promoted the misleading talking point that American infrastructure was somehow inadequate despite the fact it ranks 13th in the world.
And less than 25 percent of the bill is spent on what people traditionally think of infrastructure with the remaining money pumped into expanding the welfare state and turning America into a socialist economy.
“However, we do know that even this time last year, well maybe a little bit before this time last year, when the economy — when the unemployment rate was relatively low, there were some structural inequalities that this — that we had been not making the kinds of important infrastructure investments in our roads and our bridges,” Rouse added.
Biden and his allies expect the media to work on their behalf.
Rouse could only offer up false claims to Sciutto’s attempt to allow the Biden administration to drive their talking points home.
And this episode only serves to underscore the fact that Biden’s 2.3 trillion-dollar bill is really just a socialist welfare bill disguised as infrastructure.
