Polls show nearly two-thirds of Democrats want Joe Biden not to run for re-election.
Now Biden may have no choice.
And Joe Biden will have to step down after getting hit with this worse-than-expected news.
Polls show the top issue facing voters is inflation and the sorry state of the economy.
The June inflation report blew out expectations showing inflation surging 9.1 percent – the biggest in 40 years.
A New York Times/Siena poll found Biden’s approval number plummeting to 33 percent due in large part to Americans’ dissatisfaction with Biden’s socialist spending spree causing these inflationary pressures.
The numbers help tell the tale.
Heritage Foundation Research Fellow E.J. Antoni told Fox Business that rising energy prices cost Americans on average $3,400 over the course of the last year.
“There are plenty of families that that’s more than their food budget a year,” Antoni said in an interview with Fox Business. “I can’t emphasize enough how much this is really crushing consumers.”
Gas and energy prices shot through the roof on Joe Biden’s watch.
“The report showed that energy prices, including gasoline and electricity, have skyrocketed 41.6% year-over-year while food prices have risen 10.4% over the last 12 months. The energy index increase was its largest jump since 1980,” Fox Business reported.
Antoni mocked Biden’s claim from 2021 that inflation was transitory noting inflation transitioned from a crisis to a catastrophe.
“It’s truly crushing the middle class and then the White House spokesperson says these garbage lines like ‘the economy is in transition,’” Antoni added. “Transition in the same sense, I suppose, that an iceberg transitioned the Titanic into a submarine.”
“What we are seeing now is those [food and energy] costs are finally being passed on to other businesses and then, ultimately, to consumers,” Antoni continued. “That’s why they’re being borne out in the core prices.”
Democrats are speaking out against Biden in ways members of a political party never do against a sitting president.
The group RootsAction – which spent significant money in 2020 persuading Bernie Sanders voters to support Joe Biden in the general election – began an advertising campaign based on the slogan “Don’t Run Joe.”
That New York Times/Siena poll found Democrats receptive to that message.
According to the poll, 64 percent of Democrats – including 94 percent of those under the age of 30 – want a different candidate in 2024.
As the bad inflation numbers roll in Joe Biden’s approval numbers will continue to sink and the Democrats’ concern about Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis winning in 2024 will grow.
And even though Joe Biden claims he intends to run for re-election two years from now, the Democrat Party elites and the rank-and-file may step in to make that decision for Biden.
