Joe Biden is officially running for President.
He is hoping to get the Democrat nomination and go on to defeat President Trump.
But just after his campaign announcement he was given the worst news possible that could end his campaign.
The former Vice President’s campaign started off with a big fat lie.
His video announcement for the campaign highlights the events at the horrific Charlottesville white nationalist rally in 2017, where a protestor and two police officers ended up dead.
The announcement features marchers chanting racist and anti-Semitic slogans, and ends with Biden claiming that Trump believes they are “very fine people.”
But he ignores the next words out of Trump’s mouth, when he makes it clear the “very fine people” were on both sides, and don’t include the neo-nazis, white nationalists, or violent Antifa protestors.
His campaign kick-off is meant to incite fear and hatred against Trump, using the horrific acts to paint Trump and his supporters as hateful.
And as it turns out, people in Charlottesville aren’t happy about it.
Before his announcement, Biden was actually planning to go to Charlottesville to announce his campaign.
But due to anger from local residents, upset that the former Vice President was going to use their city as a political prop, he chose to simply use the video without the appearance.
And as it turns out, even that is too much for many residents of Charlottesville.
The city’s former Mayor Dave Norris put Biden on blast for using their city without actually getting to know anybody in the city.
“If you’re going to base your campaign on this town, get to know us a little better. Get to know what’s going on on the ground here and how we’re dealing with the after-effects of August 2017, and frankly, the after-effects of many years prior to August 2017,” Norris said.
This statement from the former Mayor of the city he is basing his campaign on shows just how badly his announcement is going.
Biden already has an uphill battle in the modern political climate.
Currently, the left-wing media has such an obsession with identity politics that they are apprehensive to support Biden.
Outlets like CNN are showcasing politicians like Kamala Harris, who is a black woman, and Pete Buttigieg who is gay instead of “old white men” like Biden.
And among the base of the Party, they seem to already have an “old white man” to support in Bernie Sanders, who is outperforming Biden in key states like New Hampshire.
For being the favorite for the past two years to challenge Trump, Biden isn’t doing well at all in his short-lived campaign.
There is still time for him to catch up, but it is clear his campaign announcement isn’t going the way he was hoping.
He still has a lot of time to turn things around, but it clearly is going to be tough.
