Democrats expect Kamala Harris to take over for Joe Biden in 2024.
But many on the left got some bad news.
Kamala Harris’ career is on the line after this scandal went public.
Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign crashed and burned in humiliating fashion after she dropped out months before the first vote after plummeting poll numbers and fundraising rendered her campaign unviable.
Harris’ campaign was marked by staff backbiting and leaks about Harris’ incompetent management style and trust in top aides that alienated her staff through a noxious work environment.
Over 50 current and former staffers leaked to 5he New York Times about the poisonous campaign structure in a blockbuster article that preceded Harris ending her campaign.
Now history is repeating itself as it didn’t even take six months for Harris’ aides, advisors and friends to leak to the media about the toxic atmosphere in Harris’ vice presidential office.
Much of the blame centered on Harris empowering chief of staff Tina Flournoy.
“In interviews, 22 current and former vice presidential aides, administration officials and associates of Harris and Biden described a tense and at times dour office atmosphere. Aides and allies said Flournoy, in an apparent effort to protect Harris, has instead created an insular environment where ideas are ignored or met with harsh dismissals and decisions are dragged out. Often, they said, she refuses to take responsibility for delicate issues and blames staffers for the negative results that ensue,” POLITICO reported.
However other sources pinned the blame for the demoralizing work setting on Harris.
“It all starts at the top,” one source told POLITICO.
Another source said it strains credibility to think Harris is not aware her aides feel anguished at work.
“She is the most perceptive person on the planet,” the source alleged. “She might not have first-hand knowledge, but it’s hard to imagine she doesn’t have a sense of what’s going on.”
Another source told POLITICO the aides in Harris’ office get “treated like [email protected]”
“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” another source told POLITICO. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s—.”
Two advance staffers—Karly Satkowiak and Gabrielle DeFranceschi—recently left Harris’ office.
Harris’ team claimed these departures were long planned.
But Satkowiak and DeFranceschi leaving Harris’ team after two widely worked trips to Central America and El Paso were hard to ignore.
Harris tried to silence conservative complaints about Harris ignoring the illegal immigration crisis after Joe Biden named Harris his border czar.
But Harris’ visit to Central America generated negative headlines surrounding Harris’ refusal to answer when she would visit the southern border.
Harris tried to put that to rest by visiting El Paso, but instead created more negative storylines after dropping in to an airport for a brief press event and visiting a carefully selected facility miles from the border.
In 20 months, Harris now has two major feature stories about the people who work for her leaking to the press about how terrible Harris is a boss.
If Joe Biden does not run for president in 2024, Kamala Harris is the likely nominee.
But Harris’ run two enterprises—her presidential campaign and vice-presidential office—and both are beset by sniping in the press, toxic environments, and Harris’ poor political instincts and skills.
