Kamala Harris has emerged as one of the strongest contenders for the Democratic nomination for President.
But the California Senator may have just driven her campaign off a cliff.
This racist attack on white people could end Harris’ bid for the White House.
Kamala Harris is one of, if not the, strongest Democratic candidates currently running for president.
The California Senator made a name for herself after stonewalling on the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation process to the Supreme Court last fall, and now she’s poised to be one of the top candidates in the 2020 Democratic primary race.
But Harris may have just made a crucial mistake that could cost her the White House.
Breitbart reports, “Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) said in an interview Monday she supports “some type of” reparations to black Americans for slavery.”
The issue of “reparations” for an evil institution which existed over 150 years ago is such a radical idea that not even Barack Obama supported it in 2008 or 2012.
Harris decided to endorse the ridiculous policy in an interview with a New York City radio show this week.
After trying to waffle on the question in order to appease all sides, Harris eventually came out in favor of the idea.
“Where do you stand on some form of reparations for black people? Here you see Mayor De Blasio saying the marijuana economy could be a form of reparations. Marianne Williamson says black people should get a hundred billion in slave reparations–like, where do you stand on it?” asked the host.
Harris then proceeded to throw her political support behind the idea, throwing out several progressive policies she supports as examples of her backing the idea.
That wasn’t enough for the radio host however, who pressed her further.
“So you are for some type of reparations?”
“Yes I am, yes I am,” Harris replied.
The endorsement of reparations for something that ended generations ago is ridiculous.
Many Americans, white and black, worked tirelessly to end slavery.
Slavery was defeated on the battlefield by predominantly white soldiers.
And the ancestors of those same men could now be asked to fork over money to pay for an institution that their forefathers fought and died to eradicate.
Even worse, there’s not a single American alive today who was around when slavery existed.
What’s more, there’s not a single American alive whose parents were slaves either.
Of course, none of this matters much to Harris, who is more interested in keeping her social justice base happy and content rather than pointing out the massive illogical inconsistencies with the pro-reparations arguments.
From a political perspective, Harris’ decision to back reparations for slavery could cost her the White House.
The overwhelming majority of Americans soundly reject reparations for slavery.
And Harris needs their support to not only win the nomination but especially to defeat Trump in 2020.
She may have just lost them for good with her comments.
Do you think Harris made a mistake by endorsing reparations?
