It’s shocking just how far Kamala Harris will stretch the truth for her own advantage.
But she went too far this time.
Kamala Harris didn’t expect this huge lie to explode in such an embarrassing way.
The childhood story that Sen. Kamala Harris told Elle Magazine in October was meant to be a touching tale of her being interested in civil rights from the time she was young.
However, a number of details are suspiciously similar to a story given by Martin Luther King Jr.
“Senator Kamala Harris started her life’s work young,” Elle’s glowing profile began. “She laughs from her gut, the way you would with family, as she remembers being wheeled through an Oakland, California, civil rights march in a stroller with no straps with her parents and her uncle. At some point, she fell from the stroller (few safety regulations existed for children’s equipment back then), and the adults, caught up in the rapture of protest, just kept on marching. By the time they noticed little Kamala was gone and doubled back, she was understandably upset. ‘My mother tells the story about how I’m fussing’ Harris says, ‘and she’s like, ‘Baby, what do you want? What do you need?’ And I just looked at her and I said, ‘Fweedom.’”
The story has come back to haunt Harris as Maclean’s contributing editor Andray Domise noted on Twitter how close her story was to an anecdote Martin Luther King Jr. gave to Playboy in 1965.
King described how he was inspired by a young girl asking for freedom.
“I never will forget a moment in Birmingham when a white policeman accosted a little Negro girl, seven or eight years old, who was walking in a demonstration with her mother. ‘What do you want?’ the policeman asked her gruffly, and the little girl looked him straight in the eye and answered, ‘Fee-dom.’ She couldn’t even pronounce it, but she knew. It was beautiful! Many times when I have been in sorely trying situations, the memory of that little one has come into my mind, and has buoyed me.”
Harris tried to win over votes during the Democratic primary by linking herself to the civil rights movement. She even went so far as to accuse her then-opponent Joe Biden of being racist.
She attacked Biden on his opposition to forced busing to integrate public schools.
But she was happy enough to accept Biden’s offer to be his vice presidential pick.
It’s all part of the Democratic lie that they are continuing the legacy of the civil rights movement.
Desegregation activist Clarence Henderson actually took part in the 1960 Greensboro, North Carolina, sit-ins at the Woolworth Department Store.
Henderson spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention.
Trump “has done more for black Americans in four years than Joe Biden has done in 50,” he said.
