Joe Biden tasked Kamala Harris with an important job.
Now Democrats are left scratching their heads wondering what is going on.
And that’s because Kamala Harris suffered a crushing defeat that made Democrats realize this truth.
Joe Biden named Kamala Harris as the administration official in charge of passing what Republicans slammed as the “Corrupt Politicians Act.”
This bill would override state laws by making it impossible to enforce voter ID measures, impose universal mail-in balloting and voter registration on all 50 states, and mandate ballot harvesting.
Democrats passed the bill through the House of Representatives on a party-line vote, but in order to ram the bill through the Senate, Democrats would need all 50 senators to support nuking the legislative filibuster.
Corporate media members repeatedly hounded West Virginia’s Joe Manchin over his refusal to eliminate the filibuster since Manchin was what was standing between the Democrats and the crown jewel of their wish list.
Manchin put this story to rest—and essentially delivered a rebuke to Harris—by authoring an op-ed in his home state’s Charleston Gazette-Mail declaring that he would oppose any effort to gut the filibuster and that he would vote against the “Corrupt Politicians Act.”
“I believe that partisan voting legislation will destroy the already weakening binds of our democracy, and for that reason, I will vote against the For the People Act. Furthermore, I will not vote to weaken or eliminate the filibuster,” Manchin wrote.
Manchin argued that changes to election administration should not take place with only one party’s support.
“As such, congressional action on federal voting rights legislation must be the result of both Democrats and Republicans coming together to find a pathway forward or we risk further dividing and destroying the republic we swore to protect and defend as elected officials,” Manchin added.
Manchin also noted how the Democrats used the filibuster—over 300 times in Donald Trump’s presidency—to stymie policies that the left opposed.
“With that in mind, some Democrats have again proposed eliminating the Senate filibuster rule in order to pass the For the People Act with only Democratic support,” Manchin continued. “They’ve attempted to demonize the filibuster and conveniently ignore how it has been critical to protecting the rights of Democrats in the past.”
Manchin opposing wiping out the filibuster did more than just stop a federal takeover of elections.
By supporting the filibuster Manchin pronounced Joe Biden’s legislative agenda dead on arrival.
Amnesty, new gun control and a sweeping union boss payoff bill are pieces of legislation that Democrats passed in the House, but stood no chance of becoming law because of a Republican filibuster.
Prior to Manchin’s op-ed, the media began trumpeting a narrative that a triumphant Joe Biden was the new FDR ushering in an era of unstoppable left-wing policy.
That’s all gone now as Kamala Harris’ high-profile push to pass the Democrats’ election takeover bill signaled the end of Joe Biden’s broader agenda.
