The upcoming elections will make it or break it for the Democrats.
If they don’t do well their party is truly done for.
And things just went from bad to worse for them after a major Democrat ended his career in just 7 words.
#MeToo Coming Back To Bite Democrats
The #MeToo movement has strong support from Democrats.
It is encouraging women to come forward with allegations of sexual assault.
And they have been promoting it since day one.
But time and time again it has caused problems for them.
It started with former Sen. Al Franken losing his job.
He was facing accusations of sexual misconduct.
With the claims coming in the height of the movement he had to step down.
And they also lost Harvey Weinstein, who heavily supported Democrats like Hillary Clinton.
But now it is going to harm them worse than ever expected.
It will likely take down one of the top Democrats in the party.
A Rising Star In The Democrat Party
Rep. Keith Ellison is a rising star in the Democrat Party.
Being a well-liked, charismatic Democrat he has climbed the ranks during his career.
He is currently the Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
Ellison narrowly lost a bid to be the DNC Chairman in a race supported by people like Bernie Sanders.
So by every indication he had a lot of possibilities ahead of him, with a presidential run not off the table.
But all of that is crashing down following allegations of domestic abuse by an ex-girlfriend.
The allegations came out during his campaign for Attorney General of Minnesota.
It is his first try at state-wide office.
And prior to the claims coming out, he was a shoo-in.
But the allegations are causing him to drop in the polls.
40% of voters know about the allegations, and say it will affect how they vote.
That is causing his race to become extremely competitive.
And new events are causing it to become even harder for him.
Democrats Fighting Kavanaugh
Prior to the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, he was facing sexual assault allegations.
Democrats fully pushed the claims with no evidence.
And while Ellison was staying silent, his party was screaming about “believing women.”
Ellison’s silence almost certainly was due to the allegations against him.
Because believing accusers was something he used to push.
He was a loud voice against Judge Roy Moore during his U.S. bid due to sexual misconduct allegations.
But with his own accuser, he is switching tones, and even disagreeing with many in the #MeToo movement.
“The #MeToo movement is a justice movement, and I don’t ever want to be counted among those who in some way tried to dissuade victims from coming forward,” Ellison said.
But that isn’t the only thing he is saying.
He brought up the need for due process, saying:
“But I think the #MeToo movement has room for due process.”
This is in contrast to Democrats who felt that Kavanaugh didn’t require full due process.
Their argument at the time was that it was the court of public opinion, not law.
So for Ellison, that could come back to bite him.
Democrats can use the same argument for him.
Do you think Keith Ellison should lose his bid for Attorney General?
