Joe Biden just got some really bad news about his vice presidential selection process.
A leading contender just saw their chances go down in flames.
And that’s because this Medal of Honor winner shut down Joe Biden’s top pick to be vice president.
Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth began to rise up the ranks of vice presidential contenders.
Duckworth is a minority – she’s of Thai heritage – and she served in Iraq as part of the Illinois National Guard, so she could bring supposed foreign policy credentials to the Biden ticket.
But Duckworth’s chances began to unravel when she appeared on CNN and voiced support for tearing down statues of George Washington.
After claiming America needed to have a “national dialogue” on George Washington being problematic, Duckworth declared, “I think we should listen to everybody. I think we should listen to the argument there,” referring to rioters and vandals that wanted to desecrate monuments to America’s first and greatest President.
Tucker Carlson struck back by blasting Duckworth as outing herself for hating America.
“It’s long been considered out-of-bounds to question a person’s patriotism. It’s a very strong charge and we try not ever to make it. But in the face of all of this, the conclusion can’t be avoided. These people actually hate America. There’s no longer a question about that. And yet paradoxically at the same time, they desperately want to control America more than anything. And that leads to the most basic of all questions, can you really lead a country that you hate?”
This led Duckworth to respond by claiming her military service prevented her from being criticized.
But that led Democrats into a trap.
Former Air Force fighter pilot Scott O’Grady – who serves as head of Veterans for Trump – ripped Duckworth, claiming she tried to use her military service to shield her from criticism of smearing the man that quite literally founded the nation.
O’Grady wrote in a statement that “after saying she was open to tearing down statues of George Washington, Tammy Duckworth is now using her military service to deflect from her support for the left-wing campaign to villainize America’s founding.”
In 1995, O’Grady became a national hero after his plane was shot down over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
O’Grady spent seven days evading Serbian forces until Marines were able to rescue him.
The fake news media tried to make it out that Carlson and the Trump campaign could not attack Duckworth because she was a wounded combat veteran.
But Carlson and O’Grady made the simple point that if Tammy Duckworth wants to erase American history and tear down statues of George Washington, there is no other way to describe Senator Duckworth than as someone who hates America.
