Joe Biden and the Democrats were dreading this day would come.
Biden leads President Trump in the polls, but the former Vice President just found out some really bad news.
Megyn Kelly hit Democrats with one reality check that may cost them the election.
“Cancel culture” is becoming one of the defining issues of the 2020 election.
Liberal activists want to silence dissent to their agenda by “canceling” – forcing social media companies to ban or employers to fire – anyone that dissents from their radical views.
Megyn Kelly called out one of the worst examples of this cancer infecting America when she tweeted out an article from Reuters reporting on a Boeing executive resigning because of an article he wrote about women in combat 33 years ago.
“This is ridiculous! Just stop. Stop the pointless firings, cancellation of school admissions, and holier-than thou targeting of so-called enemies. Human beings err, learn, evolve and move on. Show some maturity and grace,” Kelly tweeted.
Boeing’s communications chief Niel Golightly stepped down after someone dug up a 1987 article the former military fighter pilot authored opposing the idea of allowing women to serve in combat roles.
Reuters reported, “According to an excerpt on the U.S. Naval Institute website, the December 1987 article titled ‘No Right to Fight’ said: ‘At issue is not whether women can fire M-60s, dogfight MiGs, or drive tanks. Introducing women into combat would destroy the exclusively male intangibles of war fighting and the feminine images of what men fight for – peace, home, family.’”
In his July 3 speech at Mt. Rushmore, President Trump sought to cast the election as a contrast between his support for traditional American values and those on the left that wanted to tear the country down and “cancel” anyone that strayed from left-wing identity politics orthodoxy.
“One of their political weapons is cancel culture, driving people from their jobs, shaming dissenters and demanding total submission from anyone who disagrees. This is the very definition of totalitarianism, and it is completely alien to our culture and to our values, and it has absolutely no place in the United States of America,” President Trump told the nation.
Donald Trump wants to make this election a choice election where voters view it as a contest of two alternatives as opposed to a referendum on his time in office.
The President and his supporters believe cancel culture – as evidenced by the article Megyn Kelly tweeted out – will create a backlash against the left and box Joe Biden in.
Either Joe Biden can condemn cancel culture and alienate some portion of the Democrat base, or he can try to straddle the fence and push away swing voters as they come to view him as an unacceptable alternative to President Trump.
