Michelle Obama believes there is one thing she can do to help Joe Biden beat Donald Trump.
But that plan just took a strange turn.
And Michelle Obama confessed one thing about Barack Obama that left everyone speechless.
Like all liberals, Michelle Obama knows politics flows downstream from the culture.
To that end, the former First Lady exploited the fact that an ever-increasing number of Americans consume podcasts in their leisure time to try and reach new and irregular voters.
Obama understands that she can’t appeal to the audience Democrats are trying to reach with a 100 percent political show.
That’s why Obama mixes in “soft” content that typically appears as feel-good stories on morning TV programs like “The Today Show” to bring in a general audience so that Obama can then slip in her political messaging.
Obama tried that in her latest episode where she dished out relationship advice.
The former First Lady told listeners that even though there were periods where her husband drove her crazy, they found a way to work through their problems.
“There were times that I wanted to push Barack out of the window. And I say that because it’s like, you’ve got to know the feelings will be intense. But that doesn’t mean you quit,” Obama said. “And these periods can last a long time. They can last years,” Obama began.
Obama compared finding a mate to putting together a basketball team where you wanted to find an all-star like LeBron James and not settle for a benchwarmer.
“You want LeBron [James]. You don’t want the guy, third row on the bench, who didn’t make the team, but we often don’t think about that,” Obama continued. “What you’re supposed to say is, ‘I have married LeBron. My version of LeBron.’”
“If you’re looking at a team, the people you want to win with, then number one, you want everybody on your team to be strong, right? You don’t want any weak links, you don’t want somebody that you can dominate,” the former First Lady continued, “also, if you’re on a team, you’ve got to be able to do everything — especially in basketball, it’s like, you would never pick somebody that says, ‘I only dribble. I don’t shoot, I don’t defend, I just dribble.’”
Obama offers up soft-focus content like this because she wants her podcast to have a general content feel – like People Magazine or “Good Morning America” – to attract a mass audience.
If the show was expressly political, it would limit the appeal of the show to Democrat partisans.
That’s why Obama offers up content like relationship advice to draw in a mass audience so she can then hit them with her anti-Trump message.
