Andrew Cuomo’s attack on Trump backfired on him immediately.
He should have been careful with his accusation.
Mike Pence just destroyed Andrew Cuomo with one single coronavirus fact.
Listening to the mainstream media, anyone would think that America’s response to the coronavirus outbreak has been a total failure.
There’s no mentioning the fact that Spain, Italy, and the UK all have more deaths as percentages of their population.
European doctors self-reported that they used hydroxychloroquine far more often than American doctors.
Trump didn’t somehow mess up America’s response to the coronavirus even though the mainstream media report it that way.
And even Democrats themselves are unsure of the measures that they should have followed.
The Trump administration is working to get 300 million vaccine doses out to the American people before 2020 and the first doses could be ready by October if the vaccines currently in stage three trials get approved.
For populations at risk of the coronavirus, that development would be huge.
The biggest failure of America’s response was Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo’s policies that forced nursing homes to take in patients that were infected with coronavirus.
But Cuomo is blaming Trump, saying, “The president has to tell the American people the truth. It was a mistake to downplay COVID. It was a mistake to say it would be gone by Easter. It was a mistake to say it will magically disappear. And it was a mistake to not set up a national testing program.”
The CDC estimates that coronavirus has a death rate of 0.2%, just twice that of the flu, and the state with the highest number of deaths is New York.
The way America is set up, most of the power for handling the pandemic rests in the hands of the states’ governors.
Andrew Cuomo could enact whatever restrictions he wanted, but New York fared worse than any other state.
When asked about Cuomo’s comments on Fox’s “The Ingraham Angle”, Vice President Pence responded, “Our hearts grieve for the fact that one-in-five of all the American lives that have been lost in the coronavirus pandemic were lost in the State of New York, and some of that was because of poor decisions by the state and by Governor Cuomo.”
Pence added, “I liked it better when he [Cuomo] said President Trump’s leadership in the pandemic was, in his words, phenomenal. He said that repeatedly as we surged testing, as we surged PPE, as we sailed in a hospital ship, as we built a hospital in New York. I couldn’t be more proud of the support that we rendered to the people of New York, and I think the people of New York know that.”
Cuomo knows that the best way to protect his own reputation is to attack President Trump nonstop and he’s doing everything to save his own skin.
