Mueller’s investigation is in its final days.
With the midterm elections coming up, it is likely to end within weeks of the polls closing.
And in a final desperate move, he is going after somebody with no connection to Trump.
Mueller Going After Anybody Close To Trump
While Robert Mueller hasn’t been able to go after Trump directly, he keeps going after those close to him.
Most recent to be jailed are Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort.
But he isn’t stopping there.
He recently sent a request to a federal judge to sentence Michael Flynn.
Flynn, a retired Lieutenant General and Trump’s former National Security Adviser, has been a target of the deep state since day one.
He is a true ally to President Trump, and still isn’t abandoning him.
So close to a year after pleading guilty to lying to the FBI, Mueller is still going after him.
The lie relates to his communication with a Russian ambassador.
He didn’t do anything illegal in those communications.
So their best bet to get him comes from tricking him into lying to the FBI.
And they have what they wanted, considering that Flynn is no longer in the White House.
Now his main target is former Trump confidant Roger Stone.
He has a reputation for being a political trickster, which is being used to harm him.
And in their fight to take down Stone, Mueller just started targeting somebody with no connection to the president.
Mueller Takes Aim At A Random Online Show Host
Jerome Corsi is an online personality largely known for spreading conspiracy theories.
He is a friend of Stone but has no real connection to the Trump campaign.
Corsi has never worked for Trump or his campaign.
And there’s no indication the two have ever met.
But Mueller is going after him due to his ties to Roger Stone.
Mueller’s team has interviewed him multiple times.
They are likely trying to get him to say anything proving either himself or Stone had advance knowledge of WikiLeaks releases during the 2016 election.
Mueller seems to think Stone knew that Wikileaks would release emails from John Podesta in advance.
This is a charge Stone continually denies.
He claims he knew as much as everyone else and simply used publicly available information to predict future releases from WikiLeaks.
There is no solid evidence proving that Stone is lying.
That’s likely why Mueller is talking to Corsi.
Along with Corsi, Mueller is interviewing former Trump campaign CEO, Steve Bannon.
He is hoping that somebody will speak out against Stone.
Mueller Is Desperate To Find Something
This move proves how desperate Mueller is.
Going into what many believe are the final days of his investigation, he doesn’t have much to show for it.
While he has taken down a number of Trump allies, none of the crimes they committed have to do with the president.
If he can prove that Stone had advanced knowledge of the WikiLeaks email releases, he can then try to connect that to the Trump campaign.
But in order to make that proof of Russia collusion, Mueller also has to prove Russia provided the hacked emails to WikiLeaks.
He also needs to prove that the Trump campaign was involved in making that happen.
