America changed forever on September 11th, 2001.
Not only were 3,000 innocent lives lost, the American populace was forever scarred.
But Nancy Pelosi seems less scarred than most after saying something insane about 9/11.
After Democrats lost in 2016 in a race where Nancy Pelosi was expecting to take the reins as Speaker of the House, Pelosi has become unhinged. That is, more unhinged than she was before.
She was forced to accept the fact that not only would she regain her position as Speaker of the House, but that Donald Trump would be president. So since Trump took office, it has been her goal to take him down.
In her quest to do that, she has gone insane lengths to attack him. But nobody expected her to bring up 9/11 to attack Trump until she did in a recent press conference.
Pelosi was talking about her opposition to family separation at the border when she brought up 9/11, referring to it as an “incident.”
She attempted to use the Republicans’ response after 9/11 to claim that they don’t care about border security. She pointed out how the 9/11 Commission was formed, and among their recommendations were border security measures, which Republicans did nothing with.
Pelosi is correct in the statement that Republicans did little to secure borders in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attack, but it is disingenuous to use that to attack President Trump.
Trump has been highly critical about how Republicans failed to act on issues such as border security in previous administrations.
That is largely the reason he chose to run in the first place. He was tired of watching politicians who are all talk, who refuse to act on important issues such as securing our borders.
In fact, during the presidential debates, Trump directly challenged former Florida Governor Jeb Bush on the failures he saw in his brother’s administration while he was president.
But while Republicans did not act after 9/11 on border security, it is virtually certain that Democrats wouldn’t have done so either if they held power.
They have always been weak on immigration, even in the past when they didn’t have high-level Democrats calling for radical measures like abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The calls to abolish ICE coming from many Democrats will likely have disastrous effects during the upcoming midterm elections, and that may be exactly why Pelosi is complaining about past failures.
Just before ending the press conference she brought up the midterm elections. She stated that she felt that Democrats will be victorious in November because this is not “who we are as a country,” referring to Trump’s border separation policy.
But while Nancy Pelosi may be sure that Democrats will do well in November, the polling is sure starting to turn against her.
At the beginning of 2018, Democrats were certain that they were going to have a “blue wave” where they would take back the House and the Senate.
That optimism has quickly faded away as it has become clear that Americans still stand with Trump, despite the media hysterically attacking him daily.
