An end to the government shutdown is nowhere in sight.
President Trump is refusing to give in to Nancy Pelosi and accept anything less than a wall.
And now Pelosi is shaking with fear because of one thing Trump said.
Nancy Pelosi is having the worst start possible in her job as Speaker of the House.
Before even taking the reins as speaker, the government was in a shutdown.
And that is due to her refusal to allow President Donald Trump to have funding for a border.
All Trump wants is $5.7 billion to stop a problem that costs us $200 billion a year.
It should be a no-brainer and is insane that Democrats are allowing the government to remain shut down over it.
But in the end, that’s because logic doesn’t matter in this situation.
Every logical person who doesn’t believe in open borders will see the granting of wall funding as common sense, and something that should have been done years ago.
In fact, at one point Nancy Pelosi was a strong advocate for ending illegal immigration.
But now, because building a wall is Trump’s top campaign promise, it is something Democrats will work overtime to prevent.
Getting a wall will prove to the American people that Trump is someone who follows through on his promises.
He will have a much better chance at re-election in 2020 if he can achieve the biggest thing he was calling for on the campaign trail.
But with or without Democrats, President Trump is insistent on getting a wall.
Trump recently told conservative leaders he will not back down on getting wall funding, according to the Daily Caller.
He is serious in his resolve to get funding for the wall, even presenting a compromise bill, which gives him everything he wants, as well as some of what Democrats want.
His bill includes funding for humanitarian aid, more border patrol agents, $5.7 billion in border wall funding, as well as a three-year extension of the DACA and Temporary Protected Status programs.
Despite this bill being the most appealing for Democrats, it was voted down in the Senate.
Some believe that the bill was not meant to pass, but instead to demonstrate that the Republican Party is unified.
Two Republicans broke away from Trump’s effort in the Senate.
And on a Democrat compromise bill, six Republicans broke with Trump in supporting their bill.
Those Senators are Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Susan Collins of Maine, Cory Gardner of Colorado, Johnny Isakson of Georgia, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Mitt Romney of Utah.
Romney is a first-term Senator who ran with the support of President Trump but quickly betrayed him by siding with Robert Mueller in his anti-Trump witch hunt.
Now he isn’t even willing to help the President with his most important campaign promise.
Regardless, Trump will continue pushing on, demanding an end to the shutdown, along with gaining a wall, one way or the other.
