Nancy Pelosi found out some bad news.
Speaker Pelosi’s terrible 2020 just got worse.
And Nancy Pelosi got hit with one ultimatum that could end this close ally’s career.
Nancy Pelosi was already reeling from a disastrous 2020 election cycle where Democrats lost double digit seats in the House after Pelosi confidently predicted Democrats would win as many as 15 to 20 new seats.
Weeks after that debacle, the left-wing website Axios broke the news that from 2011 to 2015 a Communist Chinese spy named Fang Fang developed a relationship with Democrat California Congressman Eric Swalwell.
The FBI believes Fang allegedly had a sexual relationship with Swalwell, raised massive amounts of money for Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign and even installed an intern in Swalwell’s congressional office.
Fang’s bet on Swalwell paid off as Swalwell won a seat on the House Intelligence Committee giving him access to America’s most closely guarded secrets.
The FBI hid the information that a Chinese spy infiltrated the office of a member of the House Intelligence Committee from Republicans, which outraged the GOP.
Now 17 top House Republicans—including House Minority Whip Steve Scalise—signed a letter addressed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisting Pelosi remove Swalwell from the House Intelligence Committee due to Swalwell being compromised by a Communist Chinese spy.
“Because of Rep. Swalwell’s position on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, his close interactions with Chinese intelligence services, however unintentional they may be, are an unacceptable national security risk,” the Republicans argued.
The 17 Republicans argued Swalwell “handles some of the most sensitive information our government possesses—information critical to our national defense,” adding that “we urge you to immediately remove Rep. Swalwell from his position on the House Intelligence Committee.”
House Republicans pointed out that Swalwell hid this information—a secret that put national security at risk—for five years.
“Rep. Swalwell withheld information for five years from the House Intelligence Committee about an ongoing Chinese espionage operation targeted at him and his own colleagues,” the Republicans continued. “Obviously, Rep. Swalwell’s interactions with a Chinese spy were more dangerous and unusual than AG Session’s meetings with a Russian diplomat.”
In the first several years of the Trump administration Swalwell lived on cable news accusing President Trump of serving as an agent of the Russian government.
But once again it was Democrats that were guilty of what they accused President Trump of doing.
It was Eric Swalwell that was compromised by an intelligence agent of a hostile foreign government.
And top Republicans are warning that Swalwell is a threat to national security and should lose his seat on the House Intelligence Committee.
