Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has made it clear that her insane leftist agenda is a higher priority than anything else.
On Thursday she issued statements on “Women’s Equality Day” filled with Democrat talking points before acknowledging two deadly bombings in Afghanistan which killed 11 U.S. Marines, one Navy medic, and injured 15.
In fact, Pelosi barely addressed the crisis in Afghanistan this week as the House met before leaving town; she was too busy passing her own agenda to focus on stranded Americans.
On Tuesday Pelosi passed legislation that would federalize America’s electoral system.
The House passed H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021, which would give the Department of Justice significant control over elections.
The legislation would mandate that any state laws that possibly might affect voting rights would have to obtain preclearance from the Department of Justice (DOJ) or the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Breitbart reported that states and their political subdivisions would be subject to preclearance for a ten-year period if:
- 15 or more voting rights violations occurred in the state during the previous 25 years;
- 10 or more violations occurred during the previous 25 years, at least one of which was committed by the state itself; or
- Three or more violations occurred during the previous 25 years, and the state administers the elections.
- A political subdivision as a separate unit shall also be subject to preclearance for a 10-year period if three or more voting rights violations occurred there during the previous 25 years.
“#HR4 is nothing more than another Pelosi power play to federalize our elections. This unconstitutional attack hampers states’ ability to conduct free and fair elections, eliminates commonsense voter ID requirements, and gives DC bureaucrats veto authority. I’m voting NO,” Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-GA), the Republican chief deputy whip, said.
It’s clear that Democrats are highly threatened by basic protections of elections that the majority of Americans support.
In a press release, Pelosi noted, “This year alone, eighteen states have enacted thirty dangerous voter suppression laws, while the Court has continued its assault on the Voting Rights Act.”
Democrats want to demonize any safeguards that are placed around elections.
Their single focus is to radically shift the nature of the American government.
That is why Pelosi is worried about voter ID laws being passed while she’s not concerned about thousands of Americans trapped in Afghanistan by Biden’s botched withdrawal.
