Destroying the Second Amendment is a top priority for the Democrat Party.
One of their top cheerleaders for this effort is soon-to-be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
And she just released her plan to end the Second Amendment.
Democrats trying to pass radical gun control is nothing new.
Throughout former President Barack Obama’s eight year reign in office, Second Amendment supporters spent their time on constant defense.
With every act of mass murder, Democrats were more than prepared to exploit the dead to try to win political points.
And on occasion, even Republicans were prepared to join with them.
After the horrific Newtown Elementary School shooting of 2012, Democrats nearly passed a radical gun control proposal that was introduced by a Republican.
So even with President Trump in office, they are hopeful they can make enough noise to pass gun control.
And once Trump is gone, they are only going to move into overdrive, hoping to piggyback over any progress they might make.
After all, they have already succeeded in banning “bump stock” gun accessories.
It is for those reasons that Democrats are now making gun control a priority.
In a statement, soon-to-be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made that clear, saying:
“The new Democratic majority will act boldly and decisively to pass commonsense, life-saving background checks that are overwhelmingly supported by the American people.”
The biggest of their pushes in the next session of Congress will be implementing so-called “universal background checks,” which is a nice way of framing the real purpose of the law, to ban private sales of guns.
With private sales being banned, every gun purchase will be forced to go through a government database.
From there, they can create a list of firearm owners to one day be used as a confiscation list.
This is clearly the ultimate goal of the left, as infamously stated by Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, ‘Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ‘em all in,’ I would have done it,” Feinstein said. “I could not do that. The votes weren’t here.”
Feinstein makes it clear that all-out gun bans aren’t possible currently, but lesser gun control is.
Already, Rep. Mike Thompson of California is announcing he will file the bill to pass so-called “universal background checks.”
And he claims to have bi-partisan support, despite refusing to name which Republicans he is talking about.
If that is true, it will have no issue getting through the House.
From there, it will have to pass through the Senate, which will prove difficult.
But it isn’t an impossibility.
With President Trump in office, many gun rights supporters are complacent.
The reason gun control could be defeated under Obama was that gun owners could be easily mobilized against his efforts.
Do you think Democrats will be able to pass gun control in the upcoming session of Congress?
