Democrats painted a target on William Barr’s back from the moment the Senate confirmed him to serve as Attorney General.
But now Nancy Pelosi and her allies are turning words into action.
And Speaker Pelosi just revealed this awful plan to throw William Barr in jail
Democrats had previously agreed to a civil contempt vote against Attorney General William Barr.
That wasn’t good enough for the enraged Democrat Party voter base.
In the wake of Attorney General William Barr announcing the administration would move forward with a new plan to include a question about citizenship in the 2020 census Democrats escalated their attacks on the Attorney General.
Nancy Pelosi green lit a criminal contempt vote against Barr.
Democrats were no longer content with a symbolic civil contempt vote against the Attorney General.
They are going to ask the Justice Department to jail the man who runs the agency.
Democrats are furious and they are lashing out.
That’s how much stopping the citizenship question means to them.
But it is equally important – if not more so – to President Trump.
Acting director of the Citizenship and Immigration Services office Ken Cuccinelli told “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace that President Trump was determined to see the citizenship question included in the 2020 census.
“I do think so,” Cuccinelli told Wallace, “I think the president has expressed determination. He’s noted that the Supreme Court didn’t say this can’t be asked. They said they didn’t appreciate the process by which it came forward the first time.”
“The president is determined to fix that and to have it roll forward in the 2020 census,” Cuccinelli added.
Cuccinelli’s remarks followed President Trump’s insistence that the census includes the citizenship question.
“Number one, you need it for Congress, you need it for Congress, for districting,” President Trump explained to reporters. “You need it for appropriations — where are the funds going? How many people are there? Are they citizens or are they not citizens?”
Chief Justice John Roberts ruled the citizenship question could be included in the census, but that Roberts wrote that he did not believe the administration’s stated rationale of enforcing the Voting Rights Act passed muster.
Congressional Democrats previously demanded Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and Attorney General Barr turn over documents relating to the administration’s decision making process with regards to the citizenship question.
Both Secretary Ross and Attorney General William Barr refused the request as the administration cited the longstanding principle of executive privilege.
Democrats are convinced there is some nefarious plan to disadvantage minorities and boost the voting power of whites – who overwhelmingly vote Republican.
An accurate count of citizens for the census is important for both Congressional redistricting as well as how federal money is allocated.
Counting illegal immigrants benefits Democrats on both counts.
And they will go to any length to protect those powers.
