Nobody knows who will challenge Trump in 2020.
A new name comes out as a potential challenger nearly every day.
And Nancy Pelosi just made her decision and announced whether she will be in the race.
Could Nancy Pelosi Challenge Trump?
In a sea of Democrats eyeing the White House in 2020, there’s no telling who will take on Trump.
And one person who has slid under the radar as a possibility is Rep. Nancy Pelosi.
She certainly has the credentials.
Pelosi has been in the House since 1987, serving as Speaker of the House during Obama’s presidency.
Not only that, but she has strong name recognition.
And she has all the connections needed to run a major campaign.
But despite all of that, she has a lot of downsides.
She has little appeal to the more far-left wing of her party.
And she is also disliked by many rank-and-file Democrats due to the failures of her party.
That’s likely why Pelosi isn’t on board with a run, ruling it out during a CNN interview.
“People ask me all the time, ‘why haven’t you run for president?‘” Pelosi said.
Continuing, she says, “I love the legislative process, I really do. No, I’m not going to run for president.”
If Not Pelosi, Than Who?
So this answers the questions about Pelosi’s prospects as a presidential contender.
But it doesn’t answer as to who will eventually pick up that fight.
So far there is little reliable information about who that will be.
The first poll released by CNN shows Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders leading the pack.
Biden has 33%, while Sanders has 13%.
Some may consider that as a positive for Biden.
But considering that Hillary had over 60 percent in the same poll leading into 2016, those numbers aren’t very promising.
And what is even more troubling for Democrats are the candidates trailing.
Just below Sanders in the polls are Sens. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Cory Booker.
All three of those candidates fit more with the Bernie-wing of the party.
That means that any of them one-on-one against Biden would be likely to win at this point.
So in the end, this polling doesn’t mean much.
Anything Can Happen Between Now And 2020
In reality, anything can happen between now and 2020.
At the same period out before the 2016 election, Donald Trump was nothing more than a rumored challenger.
He had made hints at a potential run, but nothing was in stone.
And like the Democrats now, the Republicans were in disarray.
There was a growing resistance to the status quo of the party.
Trump latched onto that all the way to the White House.
There’s no telling if an outsider will try the same on the Democrat side for 2020.
One of those potential outsiders is Michael Avenatti, who represented Stormy Daniels in a lawsuit against President Trump.
He is a growing figure in the anti-Trump resistance who has hinted at a run.
Like Trump, he is an outsider who doesn’t mince words.
That’s why some figures are boldly predicting a run that could be successful, at least in a Democratic primary.
Do you think Michael Avenatti could beat President Trump?
