A top Democrat is embroiled in a serious scandal that could destroy him.
He’s found himself in a terrible situation.
And shocking details of the FBI criminal investigation into this Democrat’s campaign just dropped.
New details into the federal criminal investigation into New York City’s Democrat Mayor Eric Adams’ 2021 campaign have emerged.
The mayor is facing allegations that he pressured New York Fire Department safety officials to sign off on a new high-rise in Manhattan despite safety concerns with the building’s fire safety system.
The New York Times reported that Adams’ allegedly “paved the way” for Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan to occupy the building.
This shocking news comes on the heels of the FBI announcing their investigation into whether Adams’ 2021 campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal campaign donations.
“As a borough president, part of my routine role was to notify government agencies of issues on behalf of constituents and constituencies,” Adams said in a statement. “I have not been accused of wrongdoing, and I will continue to cooperate with investigators.”
Adams also recently publicly feuded with President Joe Biden over federal funding due to the surge of illegal immigrants pouring into New York City.
In September, Adams warned that the illegal immigration crisis would “destroy” New York City and blasted the President for ignoring his requests for aid.
“I’m gonna tell you something, New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this,” Adams said at a town hall on the Upper West Side last month.
“This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”
New York saw 110,000 illegal immigrants flood into New York City in a single year.
“Month after month I stood up and said this is gonna come to a neighborhood near you. Well, we’re here, we’re getting no support on this national crisis, and we’re receiving no support,” Adams said.
Adams had been on the plane waiting to take off for Washington D.C to meet with Biden about the issue when he learned that FBI agents had searched the home of his chief campaign fundraiser, Brianna Suggs.
“After learning of the federal investigation, it was discovered that an individual had recently acted improperly. In the spirit of transparency and cooperation, this behavior was immediately and proactively reported to investigators. The mayor has been and remains committed to cooperating in this matter,” Adams’ campaign attorney Boyd Johnson said.
“On Monday night, the FBI approached the mayor after an event. The mayor immediately complied with the FBI’s request and provided them with electronic devices. The mayor has not been accused of any wrongdoing and continues to cooperate with the investigation.”
Adams has commented that he has “nothing to hide.”
