Barack Obama keeps a lot of secrets.
He doesn’t want you to know just how corrupt he is.
And he just went above and beyond by threatening someone to keep something top secret.
Obama’s Denmark Speech
Like many political figures, former President Obama has found a way to enrich himself.
Similar to the Clintons, he has made tons of money through speaking fees.
Oftentimes that money comes from foreign governments.
That is the case with an upcoming speech in Denmark.
Obama is speaking at a behind closed door event called “A Conversation with President Barack Obama.”
The city the event is happening at is paying over $100,000 to help the event.
It is a small town called Kolding, that is justifying the expense, claiming it markets the city.
While it is known how much money the government is paying, Obama’s cut is unknown.
And Obama is fighting to keep it that way.
Obama Threatens To Back Out
Obama’s staff has come out demanding the details in his contract stay secret.
That means he doesn’t want the public to know how much they are paying him.
Despite his attempts, there are claims about how much he’s raking in.
One local paper estimates he will receive over $300,000.
This seems about right considering that Hillary Clinton often brings in similar speaking fees.
But unless the contract becomes public it will stay a rumor.
Having information in the public eye is something Obama hates.
Obama Operating In Secret
His administration operated in secret, only releasing information through his office.
In contrast, President Trump has been extremely open to the American people.
Trump speaks directly to the American people every day on Twitter.
He lets them know exactly what’s on his mind.
And he doesn’t care if they like what he has to say or not.
But Obama very much wanted everyone to like him.
It is the reason his foreign policy is a disaster.
Wanting every country to like you makes tough decisions difficult.
Trump knows that being respected is different than being liked.
Although the world loves Obama, they don’t respect him the same way they do Trump.
So if Trump were to accept a large speaking fee, he would almost certainly not hide it.
But Trump wouldn’t need to.
Obama In It For The Money
While Trump got involved in politics to fight for the people, Obama only cares about himself.
Being president has been the best financial decision Obama has ever made.
After leaving office he has become remarkably rich.
But Trump has lost money since taking office.
Much of his campaign was self-financed.
And he isn’t accepting his presidential salary, instead of donating it to causes he cares about.
He did this to show the American people that he’s in politics for them.
While most politicians will just say it, Trump will do it.
He truly understands that talk is cheap compared to action.
