Nancy Pelosi pulled her most petty stunt yet last week when the Democratic Speaker disinvited President Trump from hosting his annual State of the Union Address.
Pelosi thought she had Trump beat.
But she’s not regretting her attack on Trump after this stunning rebuke from one Republican Senator.
Nancy Pelosi wanted to get back at Donald Trump.
After the President called her bluff and refused to cave to her demands to keep the government open without any funding for border security or building a wall along the US-Mexican border, Trump enraged Pelosi to no end.
Eager to humiliate the President and to destroy his signature campaign promise to secure the border, Pelosi has spent most of January trying to figure out the best way to defeat Trump in the budget standoff.
Her latest attack on the President ended up being about as petty as it could get, with Pelosi sending President Trump a letter demanding that he reschedule the State of the Union Address or submit the speech to Congress in writing.
Pelosi tried to argue that the shutdown prevented proper safety measures from being put into place, but the truth, of course, is that she’s simply looking for a way to humiliate the President and force him to cave on his proposed border wall.
However, Pelosi immediately regretted her attack on Trump after Republican Senator Rand Paul took the Democrat to town over her letter.
Paul, who had once been a fierce rival of Trump during the 2016 Republican presidential primary, has since emerged as one of Trump’s strongest allies in D.C.
Breitbart reported, “Thursday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) reacted to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) asking President Donald Trump to call off the State of the Union amid the continued partial government shutdown.”
“Paul said on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria” that Pelosi’s request “galling” and “very partisan” when she refuses to compromise on border wall funding,” added Breitbart.
The Kentucky Senator quickly destroyed Pelosi’s arguments against canceling the State of the Union.
“I think it’s an affront to the president and to the office of the presidency, really, for her to have the gall to say, ‘Oh, no State of the Union,’” Paul told host Maria Bartiromo. “I can’t imagine they will try to follow through with it.”
Pelosi is already regretting sending that letter to President Trump.
Last week, the President canceled Pelosi’s planned trip to Europe and the Middle East just hours before she and other Congressional Democrats were planning to take off.
Worse yet, her tactics to inflict pain on President Trump for daring to stand up to her open borders policies are starting to backfire horrendously.
Pelosi is also feeling the heat from her own caucus on letting the shutdown continue.
It increasingly looks like Pelosi made a bet that is not going to pay off.
Do you think Pelosi will regret trying to cancel President Trump’s State of the Union address?
