Democrats are moving closer and closer to being outright socialists.
Figures like Bernie Sanders, who already embrace the label, are becoming major players in the party.
And Nancy Pelosi just did one thing to move America closer to being a socialist country.
Socialism and its closer counterpart, communism, have been responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths in the past century.
It is the ultimate end for authoritarian governments, in which the state is given complete control over the marketplace.
Despite it being antithetical to everything America was founded on, some are actively calling for it.
Recent polling even shows that a near majority of millennial Democrats identify as socialists.
That’s why the issue is beginning to move less from being a fringe idea to a real possibility.
And the biggest battlefield for socialists is in the healthcare industry.
Democrats are working to implement socialized medicine.
Under former President Barack Obama they were able to begin that push with Obamacare, which is a major leap towards government healthcare.
Obamacare creates an individual mandate for health insurance, something that will likely make its way to the Supreme Court, and possibly be fully overturned.
But even if it is, Democrats are already working towards passing a new measure known as “Medicare for All.”
There are multiple Medicare for All proposals, with the most popular being from Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Sanders’ bill forces all Americans to enroll in a government-run healthcare plan, effectively doing away with private coverage.
While this proposal has been around for some time, it hasn’t had much chance at passage until recent years.
And now it is gaining a major step towards becoming law with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stating her support for giving it hearings.
Pelosi is coming short of giving her support for it or pledging to fight for a floor vote on it, but she is giving it a major boost.
Medicare for All is a much more extreme idea than Obamacare, and seems to fit the textbook definition of socialized:
“Made socialist; established or developed according to the principles of socialism; spec. (of an industry, company, etc.) financed with public funds, brought under public control.”
One of the things that makes America great is our free market, specifically when it comes to healthcare.
Citizens are able to, for the most part, purchase healthcare in a competitive market.
Many other countries, like Canada, do not give citizens that same right.
And they are running into major problems due to it.
Getting healthcare in Canada is becoming increasingly difficult, because like everything the government gets involved in, there is a lot of inefficiencies.
Imagine having your doctor’s appointment operate as inefficiently as an average DMV visit?
But this is the future Democrats are pushing for.
Healthcare is a major part of any socialist society.
As the former head of the Soviet Union, Vladimir Lenin stated:
“Socialized Medicine is the Keystone to the Arch of the Socialist State.”
