Michael Cohen just wrapped up his testimony to Congress this week.
And the fallout seems to be one of massive disappointment for Democrats.
What Pelosi did after Cohen’s testimony will leave you speechless.
Michael Cohen was supposed to be the ultimate trump card for Democrats.
The President’s former lawyer and now a convicted felon looking at three years in prison was believed to have damning evidence that could be used to bring about the downfall of President Trump’s tenure in office.
However, none of that seems to be playing out now.
Indeed, even Nancy Pelosi now seems poised to make a decision that will leave the left outraged.
The Hill reports:
“People who have worked closely with Pelosi believe she will take the more pragmatic approach and not move to impeach Trump — barring a bombshell finding from special counsel Robert Mueller.”
The decision to proceed with impeachment against the President is a major decision the Speaker of the House will have to make soon.
And it seems Pelosi is signaling that she won’t let it go through.
This makes sense, considering the steep odds leftist activists would have to overcome in order to see President Trump successfully removed from office.
No President in the history of the United States of America was ever successfully impeached and then removed from office by Congress.
And the two-thirds majority in the Senate that are needed to bring about Trump’s removal seems like a bridge too far for Democrats.
But that isn’t enough of a reason to placate some of Pelosi’s more radical caucus members.
The Hill points to even more evidence that Pelosi is backing off of impeachment.
“Democratic leaders put centrist-left freshmen on the House Judiciary Committee, the key panel for impeachment, instead of outspoken liberals such as Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.) or Rashida Tlaib (Mich.)”
Tlaib is perhaps best known for stating “we’re going to impeach the motherf*****” on the night of her swearing-in party.
The President himself has pushed back hard against moves from left-wing Democrats. “It’s hard to impeach somebody who hasn’t done anything wrong and who’s created the greatest economy in the history of our country,” Trump said. “the people would revolt if that happened.”
Pelosi is now walking a fine line as a sizable chunk of Democrats in the House of Representatives have voted to impeach Trump in the past.
“Sixty-six House Democrats voted last year to move forward on impeachment. The number today might be bigger given a Democratic Caucus that has grown by 42 members,” the Hill reports.
Among those pushing for impeachment is House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA), who continues to push a conspiracy theory linking President Trump to Russian interference in the 2016 elections.
“Where it ends I don’t know,” Schiff stated in an interview with the Hill in January. “I presume it ends with Donald Trump being voted out of office.”
