Vice President Mike Pence served Donald Trump loyally for four years.
Now there are questions about how much longer Pence will occupy the office of Vice President.
And this prediction about Mike Pence’s future had all hell breaking loose.
There is no doubt Democrats want to put Donald Trump in jail.
If Joe Biden wins the Presidency and is sworn in on January 20, rank-and-file Democrats will immediately demand that Biden’s Justice Department prosecute Donald Trump on a host of made up charges so the left can experience the satisfaction of “the bad orange man” spending the rest of his life in prison.
But even if President Trump ends up losing the 2020 election he still holds the pardon power until January 20.
That led to speculation that President Trump could decide to pardon himself before he leaves office to prevent vengeful Biden prosecutors from trying to destroy a potential 2024 Trump presidential campaign with endless witch hunts.
Sean Hannity urged President Trump to take that very course of action and also pardon all of his family members to prevent a potential Biden administration from terrorizing the Trump family.
But there is debate among legal scholars if the President has the power to pardon himself.
Appearing on “The View,” New York state’s socialist Attorney General Letitia James predicted that Donald Trump would resign before January 20 to allow Vice President Mike Pence to become President so Pence can pardon Donald Trump.
“He can preemptively pardon individuals, and the vast majority of legal scholars have indicated that he cannot pardon himself,” James stated. “What he could do is step down and allow the vice president — Vice President Pence — to pardon him.”
“I suspect at some point in time he will step down and allow the vice president to pardon him,” James added.
James’ prediction was based on a 1974 Justice Department memo authored during Watergate where department lawyers held that the President did not have the power to pardon himself.
“If under the Twenty-Fifth Amendment the President declared that he was temporarily unable to perform the duties of the office, the Vice President would become Acting President and as such could pardon the President. Thereafter the President could either resign or resume the duties of his office,” the Justice Department lawyers argued.
Of course, none of this talk would be necessary if Democrats would just accept the fact that Donald Trump won the 2016 Presidential Election.
Democrats lost their minds over that result and have looked for every way to delegitimize President Trump and punish him for winning the election.
But Trump Derangement Syndrome plagues the entire Democrat Party.
So if Donald Trump does leave office it would not surprise anyone to see Democrats tease a potential criminal investigation to force Trump to resign so Pence can pardon him in the hopes the pardon would taint any 2024 comeback bid by President Trump.
