Chuck Schumer is on a warpath to destroy President Trump.
There is nothing more that he wants than Democrat control, so he can finally ram his radical agenda into law.
But all his plans are about to be destroyed with Republicans doing the one thing Schumer fears above all.
For the past two years, Chuck Schumer has been in a constant state of disappointment.
After going all in for Hillary Clinton, who would support his far-left agenda, he was shot down by the election of President Trump.
And then, with the midterm elections, while Nancy Pelosi was made Speaker of the House, Schumer remains as Senate Minority Leader.
On top of all that, the entire Mueller investigation has fallen apart in recent days, with it being proven the Russian collusion conspiracy theory is nothing but a hoax.
The one thing keeping Schumer going is obstruction.
Using the little power he has, he continually blocks any and every Republican proposal, just to smite President Trump.
He has found the most success in blocking President Trump’s judicial nominees.
With Trump nominating judges at record rates, Schumer knows that he needs to work overtime to prevent him from gaining any more ground.
But Trump is fighting back, making the nomination process manageable in the face of obstruction.
The first attempt to stop the obstructionists was with a procedural vote that would cut down the time Democrats can expend obstructing nominees.
But that attempt didn’t succeed, and that is likely by design.
The total votes are 51-48, with 60 needed to pass.
But immediately after the failure, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell entered a motion to reconsider the failed vote.
When it is reconsidered, it is likely Republicans will invoke the nuclear option, which changes the necessary votes from 60 to 51.
This is something first used by former Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2013 to confirm Obama nominations easier.
And now Republicans are turning it around on them, using it to their advantage to fight back against their obstructive actions.
The nuclear option will destroy Chuck Schumer’s entire strategy for the next two years.
Along with cutting down the amount of necessary votes, it will also cut down debate time from a maximum of thirty hours to two hours.
In pushing forward the nuclear option, McConnell explains it is because of “systematic obstruction.”
This means that the obstruction has nothing to do with the individual nominee, but with the person that nominated them.
Democrats will oppose every single Trump nominee, with exception, just so they can get another win against Trump.
This is not a healthy way for the system to run.
Debates on a specific nominee should be about their records, and what they plan to do.
Instead, they have become just another method of partisan attack on a president Democrats disagree with.
There is no better example of judicial obstruction than the case of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who had to go through hell just to get onto the Supreme Court.
