Robert Mueller is getting desperate.
With every day that goes by, he loses more credibility.
And he knows this, and that’s why he’s about to strike to try to stop Trump from doing one thing.
Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible Russia collusion during the 2016 election has gone on for over a year.
In that time, he hasn’t provided any evidence proving that President Donald Trump was involved in any collusion. Despite that, he still continues with the investigation, which the President has called a “witch hunt.”
With the investigation seeming to be nothing more than a way to harm President Trump, one major event coming up could trigger Mueller’s investigation to go into overdrive.
That one event is President Trump nominating somebody to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, who is retiring.
There is nothing the left fears more than one more of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominees being confirmed.
That one thing would allow President Trump to implement his entire agenda, as the Supreme Court would be majorly in his favor.
Making things even worse for the left, President Trump will be able to nominate someone based on ideological belief, rather than someone who can be confirmed.
Historically, a Supreme Court Justice would need 60 votes to be confirmed, but Senator Harry Reid threw that rule out the window in 2013 when he invoked the nuclear option, changing the requirement to a simple majority.
With Republicans holding a majority, as long as his nominee doesn’t result in Republican opposition, their confirmation is a virtual certainty.
That is what scares the left, and is why they are freaking out. Their one solution to this problem is asking Robert Mueller to ramp up his investigation, ending it before Trump can have a nominee confirmed.
The left-wing media outlet Daily Beast did just this in a recent article. They are calling the possibility of Trump getting another Supreme Court nominee a “constitutional crisis” because the Senate will have confirmed an “illegitimate president’s nominee.”
They are of course operating under the assumption that President Trump did, in fact, participate in collusion with Russia during the 2016 election, which seems much more uncertain to any unbiased observer. But despite their bias, they are not alone in their belief.
But ironically, their call for a swift end to the Russia investigation seems to be what many within President Trump’s circles want to happen.
The President’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani has called for the investigation to end by September.
The confirmation fight could happen long before then, so an end date by that point wouldn’t be a bad thing for Trump, assuming he’s innocent.
The major concern among Trump supporters is that Mueller’s investigation continues past the midterm elections, allowing it to be used as a weapon to attack Republicans aligned with President Trump.
Giuliani has even threatened to investigate Mueller for election interference if that happens.
This may be the only time that the leftists at the Daily Beast have agreed with the Trump administration. But chances are they don’t realize that.
