Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is a rising star in the Republican Party.
Republicans believe DeSantis is a fighter that won’t back down to the left or the corporate media.
Now Ron DeSantis hit Joe Biden with an ultimatum that had all hell breaking loose.
Florida was one of the many states along the East Coast affected by a ransomware hack that shut down the Colonial Pipeline after cybercriminals locked up the company’s data to force Colonial to pay up.
The Colonial Pipeline provides around half the fuel on the East Coast and states like Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina saw a disturbingly high percentage of gas stations run out of fuel and 1970s-style lines at the remaining stations with fuel in stock.
Joe Biden’s administration tried to shift the blame for this fiasco to Colonial and acted like it was Colonial’s mess to clean up.
At a recent White House press briefing, Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology Anne Neuberger shielded the Biden administration from criticism or accountability for this fiasco.
“Typically that’s a private sector decision,” Neuberger told the assembled reporters.
“We recognize that victims of cyberattacks often face a very difficult situation and they have to just balance often the cost-benefit when they have no choice with regards to paying a ransom. Colonial is a private company and we’ll defer information regarding their decision on paying a ransom to them,” Neuberger added.
This buck-passing infuriated Governor DeSantis.
At a subsequent event DeSantis tore into the Biden administration for not taking responsibility for a national catastrophe that saw thousands of gas stations run out of fuel.
“I think this is something that demands really serious federal attention. This was essentially a cyberattack on critical infrastructure in our country,” DeSantis declared.
DeSantis continued on insisting that a mass supply disruption in the flow of gasoline was a national problem that required the Biden administration to take action to stem the crisis.
“You can’t just say it’s a private pipeline therefore, we’re not going to be involved. No, the U.S. government needs to be involved. They need to help mitigate this,” DeSantis continued.
Governor DeSantis explained that a gasoline shortage imposed a far greater ripple effect on the economy than just a spike in prices.
“My fear is you have these gas shortages, it’s going to cause a lot of problems for people, just the convenience of life, but also for our economy,” DeSantis stated.
A fuel shortage disrupts supply chains as truckers cannot fill up their tanks.
Consumers may not spend as much money at restaurants or shopping because they fear using fuel on the commute and not being able to fill up for the drive to work.
This gas crisis is another Biden administration-created crisis.
And Governor Ron DeSantis believes the Biden administration needs to devise a solution instead of trying to keep a low profile and hope a friendly media ignores the issue.
