Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Kamala Harris may be headed down the path towards a 2024 showdown.
That has Democrats nervous.
Ron DeSantis just gave every Democrat some bad news about Kamala Harris.
Kamala Harris set the tone for the theater of the “Ed Sullivan”-like variety show event that Nancy Pelosi staged for the anniversary of January 6 took on.
In one of the most bizarre, poorly delivered and politically unproductive speeches ever uttered by an American vice president, Kamala Harris compared the riot on January 6 to Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 attacks.
“Certain dates echo throughout history, including dates that instantly remind all who have lived through them where they were and what they were doing, when our democracy came under assault,” Harris began. “December 7, 1941, September 11, 2001 and January 6, 2021,” Harris stated.
This was too much for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis – who served in the Iraq War as the legal advisor to the SEAL team commander deployed as part of the 2007 troop surge – slammed Harris for making the ridiculous comparison.
“But let’s just be clear here: When they try to act like this is something akin to the September 11 attacks, that is an insult to the people that were going into those buildings,” DeSantis stated.
DeSantis refused to spare the corporate media for their party in hyping up the one-year anniversary of January 6 to something like the Super Bowl.
“It’s interesting how everything in our society becomes very politicized, and so today — honestly, I’m not going to watch any of it — you’re going to see the D.C./New York media, this is their Christmas, January 6,” DeSantis stated.
DeSantis explained that Democrats and the corporate media shared an interest in exaggerating what happened on January 6 because it fed the left’s political narrative that Republicans were a collection of seditionists scheming to turn America into 1930s Germany.
‘”They are going to take this and milk this for anything they could to smear anyone who ever supported Donald Trump.” DeSantis added.
If Joe Biden and Donald Trump opt not to run for president in 2024 then Ron DeSantis and Kamala Harris are their parties’ respective frontrunners.
Given the political talents on display since both emerged on the national stage – as well as what both showed on January 6 – it is easy to see why many Democrats fear certain defeat if Harris emerges as the party standard bearer in the 2024 election.
But Democrats may have no other choice.
The liberal base is so tied up in racial and gender identity that it may prove impossible to take the nomination away from Harris since she checks multiple identity politics boxes.
