Ron DeSantis is one of the most popular governors in America.
Under his watch, Florida has gone from being the premier swing state to one of the most conservative bastions in the country.
And now, DeSantis just made one huge announcement about 2024.
After his landslide re-election victory in November 2022, DeSantis has often been touted as a potential Republican presidential nominee.
His high approval rating among Republicans, coupled with his crushing defeat of the Democratic Party of Florida, has propelled him to the top of the pack within hypothetical 2024 polls.
DeSantis has even emerged as a potential political nightmare for Joe Biden, who he has routinely trounced in many national polling matchups.
And now, DeSantis has all but officially thrown his hat into the ring for president.
The Des Moines Register reports, “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will make his eagerly anticipated Iowa debut next week with stops in Davenport and Des Moines as he flirts with an expected presidential run later this year.
“An official familiar with the governor’s planning confirmed the stops to the Des Moines Register, saying DeSantis will appear with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds at both events March 10. DeSantis has been traveling the country discussing his ‘Florida blueprint’ and promoting his new book, which was released earlier this week.”
DeSantis’s visit to Iowa comes near the end of the Florida legislative session for 2023, where DeSantis has scored several conservative victories that drove the Left insane.
From crushing the corporate power of Disney after the Hollywood conglomerate attempted to flex its influence in order to promote the Left’s woke agenda, to expanding his ongoing program to ship illegal immigrants to blue cities, DeSantis has emerged as one of the most hated adversaries of left-wing politicians across America.
But at the same time, he has only grown more popular with the broad majority of the American people.
“Polling shows that DeSantis has risen as an early favorite in the Republican presidential primary race, particularly as a possible foil to former president Donald Trump, who announced a campaign late last year. This will be DeSantis’s first visit to the first-in-the-nation caucus state,” adds the Des Moines Register.
At the moment, DeSantis remains locked in a close contest with President Donald Trump for the top spot within the Republican nomination contest.
Both opinion polls and betting markets say one of these two men are the most likely to emerge as the nominee against Joe Biden.
And as the first contest to be held for the primary cycle, Iowa has an enormous amount of influence in this contest.
DeSantis is expected to make a formal announcement at some point later down the line, following the formal end of his state legislative session.
But his early visit to Iowa will allow him to pre-empt the rest of the Republican field to the crucial caucus state, including Donald Trump himself.
“Although many Iowa political observers didn’t expect to see DeSantis until after the end of the Florida legislative session later this spring, his first visit to the state could pre-empt Trump, who has yet to arrive,” concludes the Des Moines Register.
