Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is facing an increasing number of questions about Donald Trump.
That’s only natural as polls show Trump and DeSantis are the only two real competitors for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
And now Ron DeSantis put jaws on the ground with this answer about Donald Trump.
Trump and DeSantis are the two most popular Republicans in America.
Every poll shows between 70 and 80 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of both Trump and DeSantis.
Many conservatives do not want to pick between the two in 2024 and would like to see DeSantis on the ticket as Trump’s running mate.
But DeSantis is clearly running for the top job and emphasized that point in an interview with Newsmax’s Eric Bolling.
Bolling presented the questions about serving as Trump’s running mate to DeSantis.
“Would you be willing to serve as vice president with Donald Trump?” Bolling wondered.
DeSantis quickly shrugged it off saying he saw himself as the decision maker and not some second banana.
“I think I’m probably, you know, more of an executive guy,” DeSantis responded.
DeSantis then previewed his campaign trail message saying he got into politics to deliver results for the voters and that a look at this record in Florida showed he lived up to that promise.
“I mean, I think that you want to be able to do things. That’s part of the reason I got in, I got into this job is because we have action. We’re able to make things happen. And I think that’s probably what I’m best suited for,” DeSantis continued.
In a separate interview with Newsmax Trump also handled the question of picking DeSantis as his running mate should he secure the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
Trump said he never considered the idea and would not be picking DeSantis.
“No, I never thought of it,” Trump stated. “I think that we have a lot of great people in the Republican Party. I never thought of it. But you know, some people every once in a while mention it, but that’s about it. No, I think that would be a very unlikely alliance.”
Trump again took credit for DeSantis’s political career saying his 2018 endorsement of DeSantis pushed DeSantis to victory in the GOP gubernatorial primary and then the general election.
“Look, I appointed him,” Trump added. “He was failing badly in the polls. He was out of politics. He was going to be out of politics and I endorsed him. And he went from a very small number to a very high number.”
It is clear whatever alliance once existed between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis is now gone.
Both are competing for the same job and there can only be one winner.
