The Democrats have wanted to impeach Donald Trump since day one.
Nancy Pelosi and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler made that clear when they approved articles of impeachment that did not include accusing Donald Trump of committing a crime.
Instead they went with vague and elastic terms such as “obstruction of Congress” and “abuse of power” because not having to pin down members of fact-free accusations of crimes would keep Democrats running for re-election in Trump districts onboard.
During a recent broadcast of his radio show, Rush Limbaugh took a deeper dive into the real reasons the Democrats want to impeach Trump.
Limbaugh claimed it all boiled down to style.
“What this is really all about, and you know it, they hate the guy, they cannot stand the way he talks, they can’t stand the politically incorrect posture that he assumes each and every day. But more importantly, they have bought into a bunch of lies. It was the Obama administration that built cages to put the children of people seeking asylum in when they came in illegally. Trump didn’t do that, but these people have got themselves convinced of this and any number of other outrages,” Limbaugh explained.
According to Rush, Trump violated the fundamental principle of making fun of the left.
“They know he hasn’t violated the Constitution. What he has a violated is their codes, their mandates, their ideas of what’s proper and improper. And what those ideas are is basically you can’t criticize them, you can’t make fun of them, you can’t criticize them, and you can’t disagree with them. And if you do, you’re bordering on criminality in their America. And they’re gonna come after you. And they’re gonna do whatever it takes to get your mind right,” Limbaugh stated.
Liberals can never be made fun of.
Republicans are supposed to treat liberals as serious, sober-minded patriots while Democrats savage conservatives as racists, sexists, and homophobes.
Prior to Trump, Republicans constantly played defense because they hewed to the rules of engagement as established by major institutions in American politics such as the fake news media that the left all control.
That meant Republicans tried to engage in high-minded policy debates while the left hurled personal insults and emotional attacks on Republicans.
Donald Trump changed that calculus.
Trump’s fighting back against the left using the left’s methods and means were a big part of his appeal in 2016 and key to his success.
Rush Limbaugh believes what truly terrifies Democrats is that Republicans will wake up and follow the Trump playbook.
Democrats are using impeachment as an intimidation tactic to bully Republicans into acting more like Mitt Romney and not Donald Trump because they know if Republicans follow the Romney path, Democrats will easily defeat them in elections.
