Rush Limbaugh spent the last year fighting for his life after doctors diagnosed him with stage four lung cancer.
Limbaugh recently told the audience that he outlived the medical professionals’ predictions.
But now Rush Limbaugh’s wife made the one announcement everyone feared.
At the top of the broadcast for Limbaugh’s program, an unfamiliar voice appeared.
Limbaugh’s wife of ten years, Kathryn Adams Limbaugh, took to the “golden EIB microphone” and announced that Rush Limbaugh passed away that morning from complications of lung cancer.
“It is with profound sadness I must share with you directly that our beloved Rush — my wonderful husband — passed away this morning due to complications from lung cancer. As so many of you know, losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life,” Kathryn Limbaugh announced.
Kathryn Limbaugh delivered a eulogy for her husband that touched on how Limbaugh affected the lives of millions and how the audience touched Limbaugh.
“He was polite and respectful to everyone he met. Even most recently when he was not feeling well in the hospital, he was so appreciative to every single doctor and nurse and custodian and first responder. He never wanted to put anyone out, and always thanked them profusely for their help,” Kathryn Limbaugh added.
Kathryn Limbaugh explained that the one value that defined Rush Limbaugh’s life was his love of country and optimistic outlook that no matter what happened, America’s best days were still ahead of her.
“I am certain, without a shadow of a doubt, if he could be here today, he would be. He loved you and he loved this radio program with every part of his being. Instead, we know our Rush is in heaven, encouraging us in the same way he always did on earth. Rush’s love for our country and belief that our best days are ahead live on eternally,” Kathryn Limbaugh declared.
Rush Limbaugh, along with Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, was one of the most important and influential voices in the conservative movement that ultimately shaped the nation’s politics.
When Rush’s national show went on the air on August 1, 1988, there was no such thing as conservative media and AM talk radio was a dying medium.
Today, conservative talk radio dominates AM stations across the country and Limbaugh created a media ecosystem for voices on the right that includes Fox News that would not exist except for the fact that Rush Limbaugh’s show achieved unimaginable success.
Limbaugh’s program was the gateway for tens of millions of Americans to conservatism.
Now that Limbaugh has passed on, it’s doubtful anyone will even try to fill his shoes.
That task is impossible.
