Mitch McConnell thought impeachment would be how the GOP establishment could get rid of Donald Trump.
But McConnell and his allies got some bad news.
And that’s because Sean Hannity dropped the hammer on Mitch McConnell with this ultimatum.
After McConnell and 42 other Republican senators voted to acquit Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial, McConnell took to the Senate floor to torch Donald Trump claiming Donald Trump was “morally responsible” for the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
McConnell also hinted that he would welcome Joe Biden’s Justice Department indicting Trump for allegedly inciting the attack on the Capitol.
But if McConnell thought he could exile Donald Trump and his voters from the Republican Party, McConnell made a terrible error.
Two days later on his Fox News Channel program, Sean Hannity spoke for tens of millions of Americans when he called out the Democrats for running a sham impeachment.
“Voters in this country are smart, not stupid. We can see the snap impeachment was nothing but political theater, no due process, no evidence, no defense, none of it. Now finding out it was all preplanned ahead of time and another needless smear that accomplished nothing. It’s been five years of this. They’ve also had it with Republicans and Democratic swamp creatures,” Hannity began.
Hannity continued expressing the frustrations of the GOP base, asking McConnell and his allies in leadership why they never fought for Donald Trump and sat silent as the FBI and Obama allies in the permanent government staged a coup to try and overthrow the duly elected President, Donald Trump.
“This is the question Republicans have to ask themselves tonight. Where was John Thune and Mitch McConnell fighting against the biggest abuse of power corruption scandal in our history with Operation Crossfire Hurricane? They were missing in action,” Hannity added.
Hannity tore into McConnell for letting liberals get away with incendiary speech that could easily be seen as inciting violence while condemning Donald Trump.
The popular talk show host laid it on the line: McConnell and his allies in leadership refused to fight for the Republican Party base so they must be replaced.
“Where’s the sanctimonious Mitch McConnell, John Thune, demanding that Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters— when is he going to give a speech on the Senate floor and hold those Democrats accountable for their incitement of insurrection and their insurrection-like language? The time is now coming for new leadership in the U.S. Senate. We will be dealing with that,” Hannity concluded.
Mitch McConnell promised to try and defeat candidates endorsed by Donald Trump in order to maintain the swamp status quo.
To Sean Hannity and many Trump supporters that is an unforgivable sin.
