Sex scandals are nothing new for Democrats.
It seems that every other week a new one pops up.
And a brand new sex scandal just took down a major Democrat.
When Democrats face a sex scandal, one of two things happens.
It is either ignored and defended when need be, like with former President Bill Clinton.
Or they use it to take them out as quickly as possible, like with former Democrat Sen. Al Franken.
If the target is party royalty like Bill Clinton they are given a pass, often citing due process.
But they are very often those who are not worth defending fully.
One of those people seems to be California Democratic Party Chairman Eric Bauman.
Just this week he has resigned in response to allegations of workplace sexual misconduct.
“I have made the realization that in order for those to whom I may have caused pain and who need to heal, for my own health, and in the best interest of the Party that I love and to which I have dedicated myself for more than 25 years, it is in everyone’s best interest for me to resign my position as chair of the California Democratic Party,” Bauman said in a statement.
The allegations against Bauman come from a number of staffers for the Democrat Party of California.
As the first openly gay chairman, a number of them were reported by a gay staffer.
The staffer claims Bauman would ask about his sex life, along with other inappropriate sexual questions.
A female staffer claims he made sexually obscene comments to her at dinner.
And other staffers claim he often discusses different men he has had sexual contact with.
The statements were so graphic that there was no way he could stay in the Party.
There is a point that is too far to defend, even for Democrats.
And in the wake of the confirmation process for Justice Kavanaugh, it is particularly difficult.
Democrats decided to scrap due process altogether and create a new standard to convict those accused of sexual crimes.
If a woman claims that a man sexually assaulted them, Democrats believe people have to believe them.
They are giving up on the court process and having the accused being innocent until proven guilty.
Instead, they are using the court of public opinion to convict whoever they want.
And Kavanaugh was their way of proving how it works.
Despite his accusers having no real evidence, many believe now that Kavanaugh is a rapist.
His reputation will never be what it once was.
There will always be those who believe he is a rapist, and there is little chance that will change.
It is a dangerous new standard that is in full effect right now.
But only for those that the Democrats don’t like.
People like Bill Clinton can get away with being accused of sexual assault without having to defend himself.
Do you believe those accused of sexual assault should have due process rights?
