The #MeToo movement has been bad for Democrats.
They have already lost a major leader, Democrat Sen. Al Franken.
And a new sex scandal that just dropped could bring down another major Democrat.
Democrats Push #MeToo
At the inception of the #MeToo movement, Democrats latched on.
In trying to be the party for women they are willing to take drastic steps.
And fully embracing this movement is as drastic as it gets.
The #MeToo movement purports to encourage women to speak out about sexual abuse.
And it encourages them to speak out against their own abusers.
The most well-known figure taken down by the movement is Harvey Weinstein.
As a high-level movie producer, dozens of women claim abuse of power for his sexual needs.
And his accusations didn’t stop there; he is now in court dealing with sexual assault and rape charges.
Most Democrats rejoiced in the wake of his downfall.
But it wasn’t a partisan thing.
Republicans rejoiced just as loud.
It took another #MeToo case for Democrats to become weary.
A Democrat Resigns Over Sex Scandal
Late last year allegations dropped against Sen. Al Franken.
The allegations stem from his time as a comedian.
Numerous women spoke out, and a picture showing inappropriate contact with a woman came out.
Democrats began trying to defend him.
But it is difficult to do.
A major part of the #MeToo movement is about believing women who come forward.
That is one of the reasons many on the right are unsure of it.
Giving women a pass to claim sexual misconduct against any man without any questions asked is dangerous.
But Democrats are willing to do that just to prove how pro-women they are.
And they are beginning to regret doing that.
Shortly after the allegations against Franken dropped he resigned.
Now another major Democrat could be in his last days due to allegations.
#MeToo Ohio’s Sex Scandal
Ohio is an important state for Democrats.
It is one of the most valuable swing states that they must do well in.
Any single scandal is terrible news for them.
So when ads from a mysterious group going after their Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown dropped, it created panic.
The ad mentions Al Franken and brings up court documents alleging Brown abuses women.
Sworn by his ex-wife, the documents allege abuse, neglect, and extreme cruelty.
The ad put out by the group #MeTooOhio praises the #MeToo movement.
But it also questions whether the movement is powerful enough to affect somebody like Brown.
Sen. Franken was taken down in the movement’s prime.
With time going by it is losing steam.
Many are becoming unsure of it.
But while it doesn’t have the power it used to, it still has enough support to harm Brown.
Any state-wide race in Ohio is close due to the party split.
That’s why presidential candidates spend a lot of time there.
So with that in mind, these ads could take him down in an election.
