The Democratic primary had a huge upset no one could see coming.
A politically inexperienced businessman is nipping at Biden’s heels.
A shocking no name Democratic candidate just surged into second place.
The Democratic establishment has been looking to replace Joe Biden since the second that Biden jumped in the race.
Not only is he old, not mentally with it, and weighed down with political baggage, he is also considered to be a moderate.
Which is insane considering that Biden was constantly pushing Obama to the left while he was Vice President.
But the radical left and the mainstream media want the Democratic candidate to be more of a progressive.
They’ve pushed a variety of candidates; Beto O’Rourke, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Pete Buttigieg all had their day of popularity.
But none of them were able to consolidate their momentary popularity into a solid base after voters took a good hard look at them and saw their faults.
The candidates who were able to wait until the last minute to jump into the race may have an enormous advantage in some ways.
That may be why Tom Steyer has surged into second place in South Carolina.
According to the Daily Wire:
A new Fox News poll released on Thursday found that Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden was leading in the early primary state of South Carolina but that long-shot candidate Tom Steyer had suddenly jumped to second place in the state.
“The former vice president receives the backing of 36 percent of primary voters (down 5 points since October),” Fox News reported. “Steyer captures 15 percent, up 11 points. Bernie Sanders gets 14 percent (+4 points) and Elizabeth Warren stands at 10 percent (-2).”
Pollster Daron Shaw told Fox News, “It appears Steyer has spent himself into a potentially relevant position, as he’s knocking on the door of the 15 percent delegate threshold.”
“Steyer’s strong showing comes primarily from black voters and women, as he comes in second to Biden among both of those groups,” Fox News added. “Plus, he’s second only to Sanders among voters under 35.”
In a separate Fox News poll released on Thursday, Steyer was in third place in Nevada, only trailing Biden and socialist Bernie Sanders.
“First, in the race for the Democratic nomination, Biden tops Sanders by 23-17 percent among Democratic caucusgoers, with both down one percentage point since November,” Fox News reported. “Warren comes in at 12 percent, down from 18 percent — and ties with Tom Steyer for third. Steyer’s 12 percent is up from 5 percent two months ago.”
Tom Steyer, who is a billionaire, has focused his campaign around environmentalism which may be less frightening to Wall Street than Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders and yet he can claim to be more radical than Joe Biden.
He’ll have his chance to make his case at the next Democratic debate which these recent polls qualified him for.
