Donald Trump’s announcement that he would run for re-election in 2024 sparked a furious round of infighting in the GOP.
How Trump’s campaign will play out is the biggest question facing the Republican Party.
And a shocking prediction about Donald Trump and 2024 will put your jaw on the ground.
RINO Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to purge Donald Trump and conservatives from the GOP.
To do that, McConnell is planning on recruiting a slate of RINO Senate nominees to take on conservatives in the 2024 primary season.
Trump’s picks won every Senate primary but Mitch McConnell tried to deflect blame from his own mistakes onto Trump for the GOP underperforming in the midterm elections.
McConnell single-handedly destroyed the ability of Republicans to campaign against Biden’s agenda by cutting deals with Democrats on gun control, homosexual marriage, the Green New Deal, and corporate welfare while also not proposing a set of policies for Republican candidates to campaign on.
Since McConnell and his RINO allies handed Biden win after win GOP attacks on Senate Democrats for voting in lockstep with the unpopular Biden fell flat because voters saw Republicans supporting all these same agenda items.
In an interview with NBC News McConnell upped his war with Trump saying McConnell would personally recruit RINOs to run in Senate primaries.
Asked why he planned to get more involved McConnell claimed it was because Republican voters began to turn away from Trump.
“Here’s what I think has changed: I think the former president’s political clout has diminished,” McConnell stated.
McConnell then predicted that in 2024 Trump could not endorse candidates for Senate by implying that Joe Biden would throw Trump in jail by then.
“We can do a better job with less potential interference,” McConnell added. “The former president may have other things to do.”
McConnell then threw Trump under the bus for swing voters picking Democrats claiming Trump made Republicans appear mean.
“We lost support that we needed among independents and moderate Republicans, primarily related to the view they had of us as a party — largely made by the former president — that we were sort of nasty and tended toward chaos,” McConnell stated. “And oddly enough, even though that subset of voters did not approve of President Biden, they didn’t have enough confidence in us in several instances to give us the majority we needed.”
But this is not really the case.
Republicans only won 38 percent of independent voters.
However, the real reason the GOP lost swing voters was not because of Trump, but it was due to the fact that McConnell and other establishment Republicans offered up no positive agenda to campaign on.
The Associated Press reports:
VoteCast suggests that independent voters distinguished between the problems facing the U.S. and Biden’s culpability for them. While few independents said the economy is doing well and about two-thirds disapproved of Biden’s handling of it, independents were slightly more likely to say inflation is the result of factors outside Biden’s control than that Biden is to blame, 51% to 47%, according to the survey….
Some Republican strategists say the finding is a sign that messages that resonate during party primaries, including searing critiques of Biden, were less effective in the general election campaign because independent voters were searching for more than just the opposition.
“You’ve got to tell them what you’re going to do,” said David Winston, a Republican pollster and senior adviser to House Republicans who had been critical of GOP candidates’ messaging strategy this year. “Somehow the Republican campaigns managed not to do that. And that’s a real serious problem.”
Mitch McConnell is a failed leader who devised the “strategy” to win over swing voters by helping Joe Biden pass his agenda and not to tell the American people what a GOP-led Senate would try to accomplish.
But instead of accepting responsibility for his failure McConnell is trying to pass off accountability for the election result and exile Donald Trump and his supporters from the GOP.
