Democrats have some major-league explaining to do.
The American people are now onto them.
And one shocking video implicated this top Democrat run in a terrible plot.
Censoring free speech is one of the core values of the Democrat Party.
Democrats’ belief that speech equates to violence moves them one step closer to completely destroying the First Amendment and allowing the left to jail conservatives by claiming opposing illegal immigration, the homosexual agenda, transgender groomers, and abortion on demand is now “hate speech.”
Maryland Senator Ben Cardin revealed that this is not some fringe view held among the terminally online or fringe left.
Cardin posted a video to his Twitter account showing him pontificating at a hearing about how hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment and that you are not allowed to espouse violence.
“If you espouse hate, if you espouse violence, you’re not protected under the First Amendment,” Cardin began. “So, I think we can be more aggressive in the way that we handle that type of use of the internet.”
“Our First Amendment is one of the defining jewels of this country,” Cardin continued. “It is NOT a free pass to spew violent rhetoric.”

Neither of those statements is true.
In Brandenberg v. Ohio, the Supreme Court struck down an Ohio law criminalizing speech that broadly prohibited espousing violence saying the government could only regulate speech if it was “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action.”
In National Socialist Party of America v. the Village of Skokie, the Supreme Court held that Skokie could not ban a march by Nazis because they are hateful bigots.
After much social media mockery, Senator Cardin tried to clean up the fact that he gave away the game in that the left wants to ban opposing political speech.
“For those interested, here is a longer version of the video referencing hate speech from our recent hearing,” Cardin wrote on social media. “Hate speech is protected under the #FirstAmendment, unless it incites violence. #context.”
Banning so-called “hate speech” is one of the principles liberals forced Big Tech to adopt after the 2016 election allowing social media platforms to ban Trump supporters.
The left accelerating their push to classify speech opposing the left as incitement to violence picked up steam following Donald Trump’s speech on January 6.
And the latest incarnation of the left hunting around for ways to jail conservatives for their political views came when liberals like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez began promoting the concept of stochastic terrorism.
Stochastic terrorism is defined as driving a crazed individual over the edge to commit violence by attacking the target of the violence in personal terms.
After a deranged 42-year-old illegal alien and nudist bashed Paul Pelosi in the head with a hammer liberals accused conservatives of committing stochastic terrorism simply by criticizing Nancy Pelosi in campaign commercials.
Liberals also believe trying to stop groomers in classrooms from indoctrinating children with transgender propaganda is stochastic terrorism.
The left is constantly looking for new ways to criminalize opposition to their agenda.
Senator Ben Cardin just made it clear to the American people what the left truly intends to force on the country.
