Democrats and their partners in the corporate media openly debate if Joe Biden should run for re-election in 2024.
The position that Biden should pass is beginning to crystalize on the left.
And this key Kamala Harris ally just told Joe Biden to resign from office.
The Atlantic magazine is an outlet that almost no one reads.
But it is popular among liberal elites and readers long identified the magazine as an ally of Kamala Harris.
Commentator Mark Leibovich recently published a piece in The Atlantic entitled “Why Biden shouldn’t run in 2024.”
Leibovich’s argument boiled down to what every Trump supporter already knew in 2020 when Joe Biden was 78 years old.
And that is Joe Biden is too old and too cognitively impaired to properly serve as president.
Leibovich echoed an emerging talking point on the left that Joe Biden asking the American people to elect him to serve until he was 86 years old was preposterous.
“The ‘whispers’ are becoming shouts,” the article said about Biden’s lack of ability to handle the job another term due to his age. “It has become thoroughly exhausting—for Biden and his party and, to some extent, the country itself. But the question quiets considerably when no one’s calculating how old a president born during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration will be in 2028,” Leibovich wrote.
Former Barack Obama chief strategist David Axelrod was the first to make this argument in a New York Times article where Democrats went on the record expressing their skepticism that Biden could run for a second term.
“The presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue,” Axelrod told the Times.
Leibovich claimed Biden stepping aside and exiting the political arena would allow Biden to act like a figurehead.
“Stepping aside would permit Biden to shed the demands of being a disciplined candidate (never his strong suit),” Leibovich added. “He could off-load all of the burdens and suspicions that come with electoral ambitions. Nothing buys goodwill for a politician like self-removal from consideration.”
Conservatives often note how feeble Biden looks, his halting manner or speech, and the alarming frequency with which Biden appears confused, forgets names and places, and loses his train of thought.
Up until now the corporate media dismissed those complaints as the rantings of so-called “conspiracy theorists.”
But Leibovich came and said Joe Biden is too old to serve a second term.
“Biden is by no means the more eloquent character he was in his younger days. It can be painful to watch him give prepared speeches. His tone can be tentative, and certain sentences can become hopscotching journeys. His aides in the room look visibly nervous at times,” Leibovich continued. “Let me put this bluntly: Joe Biden should not run for reelection in 2024. He is too old.”
Democrats and the media are suddenly admitting Joe Biden is too old to be president because they see Biden’s poll numbers sliding into oblivion as the prospect of a recession eliminates any chance for a rebound.
And since liberals think those poll numbers mean Biden can’t beat Donald Trump the left is trying to ease Joe Biden off the stage.
