The battle for the Democrat nomination for president is anybody’s game at this point.
There’s no telling who will ultimately challenge Trump in 2020.
But it won’t be one 2020 Democrat, who is about to drop out of the race over something insane.
For a short period, Sen. Kamala Harris was seen as a serious contender in the race for the Democrat nomination.
At a Democrat debate, she took on Joe Biden, who was the undisputed front-runner at the time, pointing out his shaky history when it comes to segregation.
She called him out on his past opposition to desegregating school buses, adding that she was among the first schools to desegregate school buses when she was a child.
Following this exchange, she soared in the polls.
But her newfound support was short-lived, as Rep. Tulsi Gabbard annihilated her at the next Democrat debate, simply by pointing out her record as prosecutor in California.
“I’m concerned about this record of Senator Harris. She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said at the debate.
Gabbard continued: “She blocked evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row. She kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California, and she fought to keep cash bail system in place that impacts poor people in the worst kind of way.”
This moment proved devastating for Harris, and put a stop to all the progress she was making in her campaign.
And since then, things have only gotten worse.
She now is at three percent in the polls, and sources are claiming that she is now laying off many on her staff, and making massive cuts.
These claims are proven in a memo that was uncovered by Politico.
In the memo, Juan Rodriguez, who is Harris’ campaign manager, said that the cuts are due to the “incredibly competitive resource environment” in finding donors, considering how many Democrats are vying for the nomination.
“From the beginning of this campaign, Kamala Harris and this team set out with one goal — to win the nomination and defeat [President] Donald Trump in 2020. This requires us to make difficult strategic decisions and make clear priorities, not threaten to drop out or deploy gimmicks,” Rodriguez wrote in the memo.
He also claims that many winning Primary campaigns have been forced to make cuts during the campaign, including John Kerry in 2004 and John McCain in 2008.
But of course, those two candidates also went on to lose in the general election.
At this point, Harris’ campaign is deader than Joe Biden’s, and that is saying a lot.
Joe Biden is registering in fourth place in the polls in Iowa, despite the fact that he had many months as the front-runner in the eyes of the media.
There’s no telling who will end up winning among the clown car of Democrat candidates in the running.
Some are even speculating that Hillary Clinton will jump into the race in order to capitalize on all the turmoil.
Do you think Hillary Clinton should run for President again?
