The Democrat Party truly is the party of corruption.
They can’t seem to stay out of trouble.
And a top Democrat just got caught red-handed in a career-destroying scandal.
While the treatment of Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation process was bad enough, there is a completely different situation that broke out during that same period that the media is largely ignoring.
During the confirmation process, the “largest data theft in Senate history” occurred.
Personal information from a number of Republican Senators was stolen, and then publicly posted in an attempt to threaten those supporting Kavanaugh.
The lives of those Senators and their families were put in extreme risk, especially considering how high tensions were at that point in the confirmation process.
Former Democrat staffer Jackson Cosko was behind the data breach and is serving four years in prison over it.
Cosko worked for a number of high-level Democrat politicians, including Sen. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire.
The breach has put Hassan and other Democrats under fire due to unsecured data practices, and for hiring Cosko, who has had felony run-ins with the law, without performing adequate background checks.
A staffer for Hassan allowed Cosko, then a former employee, to gain access to the information in exchange for cash payments.
So more than any other Democrat, Hassan is facing a lot of scrutiny.
This is particularly true due to her actions following the data breach.
Despite the fact that the way Cosko gathered information put constituent data at risk, Hassan has done nothing to inform those affected of the breach.
Not only is this irresponsible, but it is something that would be illegal to do if Hassan had her way.
While serving in the New Hampshire state legislator, Hassan made a name for herself championing data protection issues.
Laws she promoted in New Hampshire require hacking victims to inform those whose data may have been stolen.
But Hassan did no such thing, despite the fact that much of the information she has on her constituents could easily be abused by identity thieves.
And now, experts in the field of government ethics are speaking out.
“What about all the data that was hijacked belonging to her constituents? This was an extensive theft of personal data. She should inform the victims of just what information was breached,” said Tom Anderson, a government ethics expert with the National Legal and Policy Center.
Regardless of if the law requires her to inform potential victims of the breach, it is the right thing to do.
But Hassan and other Democrats would rather do everything in their power to hide the facts behind this breach.
In the end, it is the negligence of Democrats that made the data breach possible.
Hassan, in particular, has a lot of the blame on her.
Simple actions on her behalf could have stopped this egregious act of data theft from ever happening.
If it was a Republican staffer doing exactly what Cosko is in jail for, the left-wing media would be up in arms.
It would be a constant news story.
But because it is a Democrat, the media doesn’t really care.
Do you think Sen. Hassan should inform her constituents about the data breach?
