Joe Biden’s presidential campaign just suffered a massive setback.
As Republicans prepare to make their case against Biden next week, during their convention a key ally just sold out the Democrat ticket.
And this top Democrat made a confession that changed everything for Joe Biden.
Two million Californians lost power during a heat wave that saw temperatures soar to over 100 degrees as PG&E Corp. saw its power grid overwhelmed by demand for air conditioning.
Bloomberg reports, “It started at about 6:30 p.m. local time on Friday, when California’s grid operator determined through a complex calculation that the state’s power reserves had fallen below a critical threshold and called a Stage 3 grid emergency, which triggers what it describes as ‘load interruption.’ The last time such a declaration was made during the 2000 and 2001 electricity crisis, hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses took turns being plunged into darkness, power prices surged to a record and the state’s largest utility was forced into bankruptcy.”
Normally such a hyperlocal story would not attract presidential campaign attention except for the fact that Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders just agreed to a “unity” platform on climate change that was written by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and contained the same policies that led to Californians suffering from an intolerable dark age just as temperatures became lethal.
MarketWatch reports, “But the Biden-Sanders plan calls for more steps toward keeping that number falling. They call for installing 500 million solar panels, including eight million solar roofs and community solar energy systems, and 60,000 made-in-America wind turbines.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom admitted the state had to be “sober” about “renewable” sources of energy such as solar and wind power that the Golden State was now dependent on.
Newsom admitted that the lack of wind gusts as well as cloud covers depressed energy production from solar panels and wind turbines.
“While we’ve had some peak gust winds,” Newsom claimed, “wind gust events across the state have been relatively mild.”
Newsom did admit the blame for this debacle was on him because he charted California’s energy policy course.
“You can’t control the weather but you can prepare for these weather events. Let me make this crystal clear: we failed to predict and plan for these shortages and that’s simply unacceptable. I’m the governor. I’m ultimately accountable and will ultimately take responsibility,” Newsom admitted.
Donald Trump is sure to blast Biden for agreeing to Bernie Sanders’ and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist global warming schemes.
And the damage this plan can do to the nation is not theoretical.
Millions of Californians are at risk of suffering – and some will die – because left-wing schemes to combat “climate change” left the state with a power grid that could not handle a simple change in weather and left millions without air conditioning.
