It’s become clear to the Democrats that President Joe Biden is not a viable candidate for President.
Recently, while wrapping up his visit in Helsinki, Finland, Biden claimed Ireland to be his home.
“The ministry of cola’s the daughter of Ireland — daughter of Ireland, you can tell that’s a Freudian slip, I’m thinking of home — the daughter of Iceland,” Biden said delivering remarks alongside Finnish President Sauli Niinistö. “And I want to say, I think we’ve had a very productive summit.”
Biden isn’t able to speak coherently in public even with every word being carefully scripted.
So it’s understandable that top Democrats are reaching out to potential nominees and telling them Biden isn’t running.
CNN reported on Thursday that “top Democrats and donors” have reached out to “possible replacements.”
“The conversations keep happening — quiet whispers on the sidelines of events, texts, emails, furtive phone calls — as top Democrats and donors reach out to those seen as possible replacement presidential candidates,” the report said.
According to aides and others connected to Democrat leadership, they feel that “despite what he has said, despite the campaign that has been announced, President Joe Biden won’t actually be running for re-election.”
The piece’s author, CNN reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere, also appeared on the news network to discuss the phenomenon.
During the segment, he reiterated, “Inside Biden world, the real circle of people around the president, they don’t agree with this at all. And what they would say is, ‘How many times do we have to go through this? How many times do people have to doubt Joe Biden and say, “He can’t win an election. He doesn’t know how he’s doing it. He’s doing everything wrong,” and then at the end of the day he won the primaries, he won the nomination, he won the election in 2020.’”
The majority of Americans don’t see Biden having the mental or physical fitness to serve a second term.
A Washington Post-ABC News poll from May found that 63% of voters don’t believe the President has the “mental sharpness it takes to serve effectively as president,” while 32% believe he does, and 5% have no opinion. Twenty-one percent of Democrats believe the president isn’t mentally sharp enough for another term. Similarly, 62% of voters don’t believe Biden is in “good enough physical health to serve effectively as president,” while 33% disagree.
